I'm pretty moderate, believe it or not, I can actually see the pros and cons to both McCain and Obama. I've always admired McCain since 2000 and Obama has gained my admiration in his own right. Two points:
1. The wink is endearing and actually projects the message that Obama and Biden don't get it.
2. It does nothing to insult her or question her knowledge of economic issues (there are no quotes of her saying she doesn't understand how to grow an economy)
3. To Hillary supporters and other women, the ad is actually quite insulting. It conveys "McCain MIGHT need assistance on economic issues from his VP. His choice? A woman."

I have recently become an Obama supporter of sorts. That is to say I'm supporting his Aunts' rent and welfare in her public housing here in Boston. I have even contributed to his election bid in that a portion of the money she donated was mine! The fact that she is here illegally and that her housing and upkeep on the backs of taxpayers in Massachusetts is a shame, doesn't change the facts.
Obama is a fraud and an embarrassment to the United States. God help us if he gets elected.

I however do understand that Governor Palin was chosen by McCain to appease and rally the base, but I believe the conservative base would have already voted for them..maybe not enthusiastically..but they would soon do it over Obama. I don't believe she is winning over the independents.

Not that it matters, but to be quite honest a few months ago, I was quite on the fence about this election. I'm pretty moderate, believe it or not, I can actually see the pros and cons to both McCain and Obama. I've always admired McCain since 2000 and Obama has gained my admiration in his own right. For me personally things changed with the addition of Governor Palin. She just does nothing for me politically or ideologically. I think she turns away the moderates McCain needs...I can attest it.

I totally agree. His decision to pick her to be VP just to sway the way right and not a more sensible choice with a wider range for votes is why I don't trust his judgement anymore.

She is charge of the most important missile strategic defense system we have. She has the record of not keeping our money like most politicians. An over 80% approval in Alaska is really because she can't stand corruption. She is also in charge of the national coast guard and the 49th batallion which is the only 24/7 active force and you know how Putin just put a whole bunch more of their Mopal missile series in Siberia along the Bering strait. Her stands on energy. etc. etc. etc.

When all those terrible 'bad guys' attack the US, and that awful man Putin launches those nasty 'Mopals' (they are actually RS-12M Topol-M missiles - but let's not let facts ruin a good story)...then I guess Sarah Palin would be the best person to handle all that fallout? The point of the ad is that McCain has admitted he needs help on the economy and would need to lean on his VP for help in that field. The problem with that is that Palin's understanding of economics is even worse than his.

It sucks that whenever you criticize a female candidate, you have to have concerns about female voters thinking you're being sexist. It's refreshing that Obama's campaign had the balls to do this, even though a reason for it is because he's comfortably ahead in the polls.
It's also refreshing that this commercial is so effective without using a demeaning narrative voice, etc., to say it.
