Somewhere I have this on VHS, Recorded off "The Tube" on Channel 4, Sadly years ago my sister recorded over the 2nd half of the concert but fortunately Tunnel of Love remains viewable, Although my musical tastes became much heavier I will never ever tire of watching this, In my opinion Mark Knopfler's immense talents have never been bettered than at this performance, but the rest of the band are also at the top of their game esp Alan Clark, Terry Williams & Jack Sonni.......In a word..Epic!

yeah this track is from making movies (1980) ... the intoduction is indeed part of the track it is known as the Carousel Waltz ... the song was written about the Spanish City fairground at Whitley Bay near Newcastle ... the closest version to this one you will be able to obtain on CD is from Alchemy Live which was released in 1983 ... hope this helps

this is a schecter strat. Schecter used to work with Tom Anderson, master builders of excellent instruments!!!

Actually, Tom Anderson used to work with/for Dave Schecter at Schecter Guitar Research :-) (Just FYI: That company changed hands in the mid-80s and both Schecter and Anderson quit. The Schecter guitars today have nothing to do with the old company. Today, Dave Schecter makes excellent pickups and guitar electronics (Ozone Guitars).)

I used to love the Pensa sound, but today I find it a bit sterile, particularly the MK1 with EMG pickups. The Schecters had a very unique sound, I think. I used to own a red one, similar to Mark's, but with the original f500 pickups. They were very hot (overwound, big magnets, plus magnets on the base plate), so the sound was much more powerful than a regular Strat, but also different. Don't think I'd go for that sound today though.
