  • I heard they were considering purchasing a 100 or more of these to support the Leopard II's in combat. The LAV III's will still be used of course, but tracked IFV's are better suited for off-road driving, therefore they are able to keep up with the Leopards more efficiently.

  • I think the plan was for the infantry to keep the LAVs while these would be issued to the armored regiments so infantry assigned to work with the tanks would dismount their LAVs and load into the CV90s while their LAVs follow from behind at the battle group level. Of course the CV90s would have an Armor corps driver, gunner and loader in the turret.

  • Do Us canadians Buy everything from Germany? Ive they wanted to start ww3 again, we would probly loose to Germanyt seeing as how they still build the worlds Armour.

    cool though!

  • @GerrettJihad everything but our aircraft, watercraft, most of our weapons, our armor, our camo, and some land vehicles.

  • @jayjason000 oh and our artillery!

  • so uh when are we gonna ever use this? considering that we're pulling out...

  • @jgillies93 You don't equip your military with "when are we going to use this", on the mind. You equip your military with, "We hope not but we are ready when we need it".

  • can the ccv carry troops?

  • biger gun than the one we are using on are old Close Combat Vehicles

  • @Redfox161616 ha maybe if the liberals we're in power but seems like Steve is getting us the kit we need I been keeping a close eye on this and on the 6th of this month they will pick the APC for the TAPV

  • I doubt those Idiots in Ottawa will buy it we only spend money on our military when Stupid people realize our military losses are too high.

  • For Canada's sake, I really hope they go with the CV90. It's saved a lot of lives down in Afghanistan and really proven itself worthy in combat.

  • we are getting a tapv and ccv all going to armoured reg's the dont want to trust the ccv to infintry....can wait i drive and work a coyote......nothing has been said what we are getting the vehicle have not been listed....contracts are looking to be set in spring 2012

    LdSH(RC) RECCE

    41D

  • this and the puma are awsome indeed.

  • @KitiganZibi22 they are with the TAPV project

  • @Baseshocks I Heard the same I hope not it'd be nice to have some troop transports in hati it took 2 weeks to get are heavy equipment on ground because we had to contract a ship to pick up and dilever are gear hopefully the government will go threw with the original plans

  • I hope this replaces the pos coyote

  • i don't want to be hammering more shoes off tracks again, i just got off a tank squadron

  • @Kingerik32 we are buying 108 of them with a option of 30 they will NOT go to the reserves are storage actually the option for 30 if they do get them they will go to the marine commando regiment they are becoming fully active in 2012 that why the JSS project went threw

  • @TheCFarmy as far as i know it was canceled government bay buy the Berlin-class or Cantabria-class for our off shore resupply.

  • I think the plan is to have these with the armor regiments at squadron strength to carry infantry assigned to roll with the tanks. The infantry battalions will still have the Lav 3 as their main veh.

  • @MegaWolfgang

ha no, we'd never let the strats drive us anywhere and tanks roll with us, while there is a plan to probably buy atleast 100 of these distribution is still in the talks though there talking about just giving them to 1 cmbg, which i 'm sure the strats would get a few of but obviously the infantry battalions and 1 cer take priority.

  • ,Drivers hatch is very old tech ,Honestly thought this was a movie STUG III , prop , they gotta be kiddin on this piece of crap.I know we had Niala rip offs made bt GM Diesels and they looked better , no 25 or 30 MM ,but at least they were wheeled and could stand better blast .

  • its crap

  • Why the hell does the driver have to be exposed? Should just have armored cameras to look around, and only be exposed if the camera is destroyed to replace it then go back in. Don't expose our drivers please, good work on the tread guards though, but an explosive will still blow off the treads which sucks. I'll try to find something better than treads but use those wheels man easier to replace I think, but at the same time I guess you can't really use a jack on a tank.

  • the lav 1 looks better then this

  • @BaconTV123

You must kidding right ? .

  • @Jimderkaisser i said looks and kinda i perfer 8 wheels...(this is my point of view) they need to make the cannon higher or thier gonna take out friendlys like the BMP-1 did

  • @BaconTV123

Tracked vehicles has a higher maintenance cost than wheeled vehicles in opposite the tracked vehicles offer a higher mobility in poor road than wheeled vehicles. The wheeled vehicles are quieter than tracked vehicles which mean it improve stealth. Tracked vehicles has higher level of protection than wheeled vehicles but in contract the wheeled vehicles can be air transportable with C-130 Hercule or other similair aircraft while the tracked vehicles need a more larger aircraft.

  • in contrast*** not contract

  • @Jimderkaisser ya wheels...more mobile and like i said raise the gun so you dont take out ur troops like BMP-1

  • @Jimderkaisser they both got their pros and cons

  • @Jimderkaisser

Except that point is moot since the CCV project is to replace the LAV 3 and the LAV 3 isn't air transportable unless it's turret is removed which, means it has to be assembled "in a combat zone". Not to mention the LAV 3 couldn't go anywhere in Afghanistan and failed to protect it's troops on several occasions from threats below the vehicle. Who needs stealth if your not recce? Hell even the Lav 2 Coyotes are being replaced with a wheeled armorued vehicle.

  • @Jimderkaisser Agreed, but trust me, there are some places that only track can go...

  • @Jimderkaisser probably not it looks like crap...don't even sound like a lightly armoured vehicle nevermind the tank... even th G wagon sounds more intimidating.

  • @Jimderkaisser lavs are sexy...

  • @BaconTV123

The lavIII has been proven very infective in Aphaganistan by not only canada but the USMC. There on the hunt for a tracked armor fighting vechile so they have vechiles who can keep up with the new leps on all levels. Most of these vechiles will also be kept in the war reserves and only a few every used for training. Yes canada has vechiles that use specifically for war and nothing else.

  • @Splifferrific i am canadian so i already that we have pure military vechiles

but i still go with the speed of a lav

  • @BaconTV123 dude its close combat its suppose to be small

  • @cdnparatrooper no...shit

  • Better armour than a LAV for sure but those big flat sides say "hit me here".

  • @akropiss what is that condition?

  • who builds this.... general dynamics?

  • @101andrewj

    Bae Systems - Hägglunds

  • @akropiss It doesn't matter if it packs a punch anymore as long as a IDE doesn't pierce it that's all that matter to our soldiers in Afghanistan. I suggest you try Basic Training to get a hang with the latest equipment, and get paid by eating, sleeping and driving there lol.

  • Canadian Taxpayers money goes to paying the soldiers more than buying new equipment... how do I know this? At QMB training (basic training) some of our teammates used the very same tactical vests as the WW2 tactical vests... lucky I got the newest one which is wayyyy easier to put on lol. Besides we are only around 40 million people you can't expect the gov. to get major cash for the budget... the only thing Canadian in the army is the C-7,C-8,C-9 I think that's about it... and EXPLOSIONS.

  • Looks like a great combat vehicle. Are CF going to add this to their inventory?

  • @stickboy1010

The Canadian Forces are currently searching for a potential candidate between 25 to 45 tonnes able to transport troops directly into a combat but also meant to accompany the main battle tank into combat. The LAV-III is a good infantry fighting vehicle but suffer of mobility and protection. The LAV-III will continue to serve until 2035 as the primary fighting vehicle but for more dangerous mission the CV90 or any equivalent vehicle will be in the first line.

  • @stickboy1010

    Possibly

  • @Jimderkaisser I heard we might be getting some of the new Navistar/International defense vehicles and they look cool as hell

  • @stickboy1010 most likely, it'll complement our MBTs, considering that most of our armored vehicles are on wheels.

  • @stickboy1010

I remember hearing about this at one point in time but it was never confirmed it it was going to happen or not. The issue at the time was troop transport as a

LAV-III can transport a full section (squad) of soldiers. But from I can tell of the CV90 it too can carry that much and gives better mobility and protection. It would be great to see them among our newly (used) acquired Leo2's :D

  • @stickboy1010 its possible ,i guess u could say it finally match up with the m2a3 bradley

  • anyone else think this looks a bit like a Panzer 4?

  • .....Another Canadian project shitcanned......

  • I think its funny when small countries like Holland buy these, but being Canadian we can't have them

  • well since the restriction and complication from the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) , the Canadian Forces using as much non-American equipment as possible.

  • @Jimderkaisser I don't follow.

  • @Ralroost

small country ok but they have a powerfull army, 1 of the best trained army's of the world. look to there SF they are the best in the world with de british SF.

  • @pampakillerboz You need to relax. I'm a fan of the Netherlands and I wasn't bashing it. It just cheeses me that our military isn't even on par with a small european country and we have probably 30 times the land mass to defend.

  • @Ralroost You've really answered yourself :P

    Holland: 400 people/square kilometer.

    Canada: 3 people/square kilometer.

The small European countries can afford to do this because their population to area ratio is so much higher. In Canada, we have to defend much more with much less, simply because our population density is lower.

When your entire nation is within striking distance of one central air base, you can afford to spend a lot more!

  • @hobbes71002 I know, and thats not fair!

  • @Ralroost

we might be small but we have a well orginised army on the other hand

  • So this CV9035 is actually being tested in Canadian soil?

Well, it's just about damn time...... if wasn't because of Jean Chretien we'll probably have these running and kick the insurgent's arse already!

  • ..... and another CF project bites the dust.....

  • wouldn't a bradley be better because it has the anti tank missile they took out t-72s with them in iraq

  • @ClamTrafficJam28

It's also a question the price tag per unit.

  • Question of patronage, too...that's why we're STILL flying 40-y/o Sea Kings and driving around those shitty, noisy, underpowered, LSVW's with the phucking tactical metallic brakes!

  • Just make it a cv90120 with a smoothbore 120 mm gun.

The 40 mm have pritty decent armor, could probably take out older tanks, espacialy if they are monkey models.

  • @ClamTrafficJam28 CV90's are availeble in different types, they have IFV, air defence(anti air) I though medic type, mortar type and the 'main gun' on it is also in different calibers, from 25 til 40 on the IFV and there is even one i forgot, the MBT version, it has a 120mm main cannon. all types do have coaxial guns. the ammo for the 40mm (it is a BOFORS) has also armor piercing ammo;)

  • @ClamTrafficJam28 The Cv90 can allso have anti tank missiles xP

  • The CV90 is not a garbage and the CCV is only to protect troop inside a battlefield. The LAV-III was not designed for such job and this is for why we're looking to a vehicle to meet the minimum requirement of the CF. The vehicle need to be strong enough to accompany a MBT into the combat (only the CV90 and the PUMA right now can do it). The CF also looking for a vehicle with a strong armament between 30 to 40mm but also refereed to a 57mm to 120mm.

  • The CV90 has a very high survivability and the vehicle meet the 90% of the Canadian forces requirement but also meet the weather of Canada (very cold in winter with difficult terrain and mud, and hot in summer).

  • What so the Warrior IFV which has an upgraded gun to 40mm with also dorchester bolt on armour is not as good as the Puma or CV90?

  • i didn't mention that...

  • That thing looks like it could kick some ass lol

  • And it does with the norwegian, danish and swedish armies in afghanistan.

Havent the dutch also shiped over some?

  • @Mynamesuckstoo yes it can it may not look like much cause its a b line vehicle although it has the treads of a (a line) vehicle it would have less maintance cost although it has treads instead of wheels

  • Thats a nice tanks

  • It's a infantry fighting vehicle not a main battle tank. He can perfom close combat vehicle and accompany the Leopard C2 and 2A6M into the combat unlike the LAV-III and other canadian forces infantry fighting vehicle.

  • The mobility and firepower is similar to a main battle tank but he can transport troops directly into the combat (a section) and perform "escort" for the main battle tank. The LAV-III transport troops and can perform close combat but due of the poor mobility and light armour he can't go directly into the combat. The CV90 ,Puma and maybe the M2A3 Bradley is the most likely candidates for the role. The CV90 still a strong competitor because since 1993 the canadian forces want this vehicle.

  • M3A3 Bradley** not M2A3.

  • Svensk!

  • what?

  • Swedish! (in Swedish...)
