I'm just glad to see that someone else in the business appreciates conner's genius enough to cover it. It could never be as good but it is a compliment to hear this guy give props. This is one of the most beautiful songs he has. When I first heard bright eyes, I realized that I wasn't the only one on this earth who felt this way. He really saved me and shaped my writing.

I personallu love both artists, but when you listen to both singing this song, Jason just doesn't compare to Conor. This cover isn't bad, and you'd like it a lot if you didn't hear Bright Eyes's version. But nothing compares to Conor. This cover doesn't make me feel anything. Its soft and gentle and kind, which is what Jason was going for. But not the point in Conor's view.

Just goes to show the different ways songs can be interpreted.

Jason Mraz is one of the few mainstream artists I enjoy, because i don't really have an opportunity to listen to radio, and I love that he covered this song. The point of covering a song is to make it suitable to you, not to copy the original artist completely...otherwise it's boring. i enjoyed listening to his take on it.

Generally, a song is almost never as good performed by anyone other than the songwriter/original artist.

The good thing when a well-known artist covers a song is that it exposes the music to a whole new audience (the ones who may typically listen to "too polished" music). I don't know about everyone else, but, when I like a song, I tend to look it up on the 'net, hoping to learn more about it, which leads back to the original artist (and more of those amazing songs to love!)

I'm possibly the biggest bright eyes fan you will ever find, but I don't understand why people feel so threatened by a cover of one of his songs. In all honesty, I prefer the Bright Eyes version but only because of my love for Conor.
