Calling all Square Dancers! Please visit the Pepsi Refresh Project website and vote for the American Folk Dance Institute to win a $250K grant to help promote square dancing, clogging, and other American folk dances. We plan to fund a foundation to help all clubs and also build the museum and hall of fame! Please help!
Thanks for putting the groups names on the video. I was at the convention & filmed the exhibitions a different day. Unfortunately I don't know where I left the program & forgot the groups names.
square dancing has a lot of high energy to it. it keeps the old ticker going hehehehe. it's a very good aerobic exercise. a square dancer will live longer than a pro athlete.
First I was going to say that the exhibitioners represent dancers from a certain period and they dress according the the period (in this case when long calico dresses were the syle) but I realize the music does definately seem more modern than the dress. Perhaps someone else can commment.
I still loved watching them, even if dress and music weren't of the same era.
This is exhibition dancing, not just a bunch of people dancing just for fun. They chose a "costume". If this were people just dancing for fun, you'd see a variety of colors and styles.
First of all, I'd like to say that I proudly belong to the two most bad ass square dancing groups around... and BOTH are from Lamar, Co! lol "Dudes and Dames" and "Denim and Lace". Yeah, we rock. (In the vid!!)
Dear Lordy, that's my granny in the middle and she ain't wearing herself no bloomers when she dances the dosey doe with uncle Mel!
