  • The sad thing is if that laverne and Shirley tried to get a factory job in Milwaukee Wisconsin today they would of found themselves very unemployed due to over seas outsourcing and automation. And the whole show would of been based on them collecting their welfare checks and protesting in front of Gov. Scott Walker's office.

  • I live in shithole Milwaukee, Wisconsin, unfortunately right now. Let me tell you this is what Milwaukee looks like. All dreary, no sun, and freezing, freezing Winters. You feel like you're gonna die waiting to catch a bus..

  • @giaisbomb

I was the same way. A couple years ago, i wanted to move away so much. I did, and now I would do anything to move back. I love Milwaukee. The lakefront, the food, downtown, our sports teams, the atmosphere, and yes... the snow.

I love Milwaukee, and I would gladly trade places with you.

  • Love this thanks.....

  • The Milwaukee years were best!!!! I recall when I got to go to Milwaukee back in the 1980s. It was neat to imagine they were actually there, lol. The Shotz brewery was actually Joseph Schlitz Brewing Co.

  • Good Song! Can't say the same for Wisconsin! People are the rudiest I ever met! Plus hate the wether there! Glad to no longer live in that God Forsaken area! At least the Packers are a Great Football Team lol?

  • @noland628

I would do anything to move back to Wisconsin. In my opinion, there's no greater place on earth.

  • I always though Shirley was hot

  • @Psychology They were both pretty hot. Hot couple of Jew babes. I'd love to fekokteh either of them in the klafte.

  • @neighbourinblack Jew babes?? Who? Laverne was Italian, her last name was DiFazio... and Shirley's last name was Feeney, so she was either English or Irish. Get it right. lol

  • @boofdfast There are plenty of Italians and British who practice Judaism. I don't actually know if they are infact Jews, the lyrics at the beginning contain do contain Yiddish.

  • They should have stayed in Milwaukee

  • They don't write theme songs as good as this anymore.

  • Question, Is this a pioneer in lesbian culture?? I mean, is lesbian context inferred?

  • @1greatdude ...no...they date guys. It would have been cool though.

  • @1greatdude Nah, they apparently dated the guys from Happy Days. This was a spin-off of Happy Days.

  • One of the greatest theme songs

  • Who sang the theme song?

  • @arashcy Cyndi Grecco. (sp)

  • 3 peoples' dreams didn't come true.

  • Back when TV shows took their time with their intros. I miss those days.

  • this version of the theme has always been my favorite.

  • hi

  • i listen to this while skateboardin i like the percussions at 0:57

  • Comment removed

  • Modern TV sucks...awesome show

  • Love this show, love this song, and I live so close to Milwaukee. Yes, we have a winner here!

  • The guy, Charlie Fox, wrote this theme song as well as "Happy Days." Among others.

  • wear gonna make our dreams come true Fuckin it are way:)

  • Flying into Milwaukee one time, we waited about twenty minutes before the air traffic controllers gave us clearance to land. I had this song stuck in my head for each of those twenty minutes.

  • Both of those ladies are my favourite American artists when I was in kindergarten :-)

  • How can you not feel inspired singing this tune?

  • Great Show and love the music too!

  • phil wasn't anything but an actor RIP Phil Foster luv L&S

  • Wow I remember my mum use to watch this when I was a little here in the UK!!!!

  • I used to watch reruns of this in the morning before school in like 5th grade. I am a high school senior and I have probably seen every episode.

    Milk and Pepsi...haha

  • learn to spell correctly douche lmao

  • So many fond memories...

  • Don't waste your ears on this one

    watch?v=mRmKzxhMzwo

  • @DigitalGrotto that link is useless.....type in the full video name ..

  • @SaintIzzle Works for me.

  • @DigitalGrotto hey. I'm sorry dude. It did work. I was drunk.

  • definitely a classic! so many memories!

  • This was back when L&S was the number one rated show for two seasons.

  • I sing this song daily.....

  • in a padded cell?

  • ppfffffttt :0

  • This was 1978-1979, the third season opening. My favorite for the WI years was the final year, 1979-1980. The best CA opening was 1981-1982, IMO : )

  • Thanks for posting.....

Notice how some of the best tv shows are set in the best State??...L&S, Happy Days, Picket Fences....and That 70's Show (not bad!!)....

  • It was a great show, yes. As was Happy Days, until Joanie & Chachi went to Chicago and they brought in all the shirt tail relatives.

I don't know about the best state, though. That is a matter of opinion. ;)

  • I love this theme song! Does anyone know who sang this?

  • Cindi Greco sang this song.

  • Cool, thanks!

  • I loved Lavern and Shirley when I was a kid.

That song means so much to me, especially the past four years.

I have a lot to say about this for the television et movie et music et literary industry.

Google Jeff Fisher American Patriot loves Jane Bowell and God Forever

  • I like when Wayne and Garth from Waynes world did this on their movie... so funny.. ~you'd have 2 watch it~ LOL

  • i love this show so so much me and my ex best friend were the black Laverne and Shilrey of the projects aka Ghetto

    i really miss her !

  • lol lenny and squiggy ..lol i loved this show as a little girl and still do

  • Loved Laverne and Shirley growing up.

  • What a great theme song! Just looked up the chords and I'm playing L&S :-) BTW this series was set when? It was a spin-off from Happy Days, right? (so mid-1950s) L&S appeared as dates for Richie & (Potsie?) But... I recall a big poster of Beatle John & Paul from 1964 period (but I could be wrong about that) :-)

  • i loved this as a child and still love it now...i love the theme song..brings back so many memories!

  • Actually, this version was the very original for the 1976-1977 season, If you noticed on this version, the drums are louder, the following season they toned down the drums...I dunno WHY I notice stuff like this but I do...

  • Oh Wow.....this really put me in my "way-back" machine. God, I loved this show! I guess everyone says this about the shows that they enjoyed when they were younger, but they just don't make them this funny anymore. But I totally agree with the poster who commented that they should have stayed in Milwaukee....the show went downhill when they moved it to CA.

  • Oh My God!!! I finally get to see this precious footage. After years of watching Waynes World I am jazzed to see the original song. It is brilliant and its the kind of opening sequence I would like to see on sitcoms today. It shows candid moments from the show, actors looking at the camera in their intros, shows what they do in some episodes, and those tuning in for the first time see what would typically happen in an episode

  • I know it came out in the mid-70's. Around 1976 or 1977 I think.

  • I watch this. What decade did this come out?

  • If anyone has the episode or the clip when Fabian sings 'Turn me Loose' to Shirley in his hotel room, pls. post it....One of the funniest scenes ever on that show.

  • Wow! Does everyone remember the big 50's revival that happened back in the 70's? I sure remember! I was in high school when this was on TV and I never liked it much. I preferred Happy Days (pre-shark era), though I liked the L&S Theme song even better than Happy Days'.

  • Great opening of Laverne and Shirley. Milwaukee's City Hall is shown. The show should had stayed in Milwaukee.

  • the final season was horrible, WI years was the best!

  • This show went downhill after the Wisconsin years.

  • Loved to watch it come on for the theme, but never could stomach the show. But will always be a fan of Penny Marshall. Don't mean to sound corney, but the way shows came on then showed simply human beings no different than the viewers watching them.

  • Help me please!

What are the words after the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8 but before "We're gonna do it?" I think it's the name of the company where they work, but for years, I have never been able to decipher it.

  • They're saying Schlimiel, schmazel, Hossenfeffer Incorporated. Don't know exactly what it all means or if I have the spelling right. The first two words were slang from the fifties, I think. The company name might be the brewery where they worked?

  • @mka800 - Schlemiel means a clumsy or stupid person, schlimazel means an unlucky person, and Hasenfeffer is a type of German stew made with pepper and rabbits.

  • i can't spell it, but schlameel, schlamazel, hassenfeffer incorperated. i think. lol.

it was in a piano book i had once.

  • lol...I was just about to post the same question!

  • This show was a classic. I used to watch this show when I was kid and I thought it was a excellent show.

  • What are we doin'? We got tickets to Alice Cooper.

  • Were gonna make our dream come true, were gonna do it... yes one of my favourite pastime sitcomes , I liked Lenny and Squiggy two cool dudes... they would just drop by at any time.. feel the girls off ...cop a feel... and then say goodbye to their fave chicks...and leave ....the coolest daytime show ever

  • Lenny and Squegy were so funny also

  • I like this tune. It's catchy

  • One of the best shows ever on. My best friend and I act like this when we hang out together.

  • I loved this show too. I can never figure out where in the heck they came up with Sclemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated name at the begining of the song. I used to just mumble it when I was a kid.

  • i used to love this show when i was little, i wish it was stil on!!

  • i love this show really funny

  • no unfortuneltly she did not and carmine movedtothe bronx is the last episode

  • I love the theme song so much I have it on my iPod! Yep, The song was released as a single and reached the Top 40. It's now on at least one CD.

  • This is from the 1977-78 season, I can tell by the bass drum that was only used that year. This is my favorite version too.

  • Kent: you got this shit down. I thought I was OCD! Great comment, though, even though you're the only human being on earth who knows the fact you stated.

  • Actually this was the 1978-79 season version.

  • @kentgraovac the drum at 0:34 makes it sound like its not unusual by tom jones

  • This sounds like the original opening theme from season #1....1976

  • This sounds like the very original theme from 1976.

  • Lest you forget -- the first season introduction featured the girls' last names, plus scenes of them dancing the Stroll.

Have you any clips of season one?

  • Your mom's gay!

  • nothings gonna turn us back now... i love the theme

never heard the word impossible... we are gonna do it..

awesome theme. Too bad Shirley left the show..

  • Did Shirley come back for the series finale?

  • this was my fav. version of the theme

  • Agreed. Probably the best rednition of this theme ever.
