It's been suggested that there could/should be a class-action suit for this issue. We have a 2005 Sienna and I'm looking into getting this taken care of - if there was a recall, no one notified us.
i still havent fixed the problem on my van. the lowest quote i got was $175, toyota wanted $300 plus to fix it. it is actually a broken weld so WD40 wouldnt help at all. the thing that frustrates me most is that i was only a few months out of the 5-year warranty yet toyota still didn't fix it
@amamdani15 Same problem here. 2005 Sienna --- warranty over. Found out it's a common welding problem that Toyota didn't recall. My quote was for $750 for welding and repainting! It makes my blood boil. I'd like to try and take the door off myself and tinker with it. Anybody have experience here?
Our van just started making the same noise. After looking online it looks as if this is a common problem with Toyota vans and it doesn't look as if they will do anything about it. I sprayed WD 40 on it and it didn't help at all.

I just wrote a letter to them referencing the forum discussing this issue along with this video.

there was a recall on this. check the dealer to see if it has expired or not. the spot welds broke.

this was my fix. Went with a screw instead of JB Weld.
my profile has a link to a short video. I'll cross my fingers

@moybius Going to try some JB Weld on mine. I will let you know how it goes. I can see where a broken weld is...I hope that the only spot.
