  • i also had those. same surgeries and i am 12 the mediciens just wernt working

  • Remicade is a miracle drug for me and nothing has happened since I've been on it. WOO.

  • im 14 years old i got diagnosed at first with a small acute proctitis, and within 2 months after i was diagnosed with full on UC. i experianced to feirce flare ups, each lasting about a months. i lost about 14 pounds. but after taking a high dose of asacol and prednisone i was feeling fine.

  • @samsplace21 I also have Uc I was Diagnosed shortly after my 11 birthday you are very blessed to have found somethign that works and it seems you didn't lose alot of wait i lost over 30 in 3 weeks but I am blessed to be medicine free and flare-up free for 2 years

  • im on steroids and remicade and it works fine for me :)

  • im 14 i got it like 2 years ago in 8th grade. i dont know what i had my whole digestive tract was ulceratide from stomach to end. i was bleeding like hell about the size of a cup per bm. i lost like 35 pounds in a week and a 1/2. my doc said it was uc. i tried taking steroids but they eventually failed. and it came back. then i went to panarama city during the 3rd week of highschool. they fixed me up in a month. now im on 6mp and i havent had any blood for months try the drug it was a godsend.

  • I was recently diagnosed with UC, and i manage mine with Anti-inflammatory-Pentasa and Steroid-Predinsolone. I really put off going to the Dr for month thinking i was going to get better (this was before knowing i had UC) My message is never be embarassed to visit the Dr about anything! I was and i regret it to this day. Although i am fine now i would never wish that sort of pain and worry on my worst enemy! PLEASE BE MORE AWARE OF IBDs! xx

  • Kinda funny when people try to tell us who are suffering with UC to cut down on stress. Really?? I can't work which means no income, I can't eat which means no nourishment, I can't do anything because I have no energy, oh and let's not forget the CONSTANT pain in my gut! So how exactly is one supposed to cut down on stress during the most stressful time of their lives? I haven't figured that one out yet.

  • I have this disease. Your story is so inspiring to me <3 Kisses from Portugal

  • PLEASE READ THIS IF YOU ARE SUFFERING FROM UC!!

I was diagnosed 3 years ago with "severe pancolitis (entire colon)" by my specialist. He told me that we would try convention treatments: prescriptive drugs (of the following levels 1. anti-inflammatories, 2. Steroids, 3. Remicade) and if all else failed, surgery. I was devastated as I not only had a serious illness but the worst kind of UC.

I never had to progress beyond the maintenance anti inflammatories because I found something con'd

  • @stevem4545

I watched a video about using a juice machine to separate the valuable nutrients of the cruciferous vegetables (show to fight inflammation and cancer) from the hard to digest pulp/fibre. My saviour: a daily dose of mixed vegetable juice from putting brocolli, cauliflower, carrots, spinach and cabbage through my juicer. Everyone is different and no solution is universal but this has me symptom free, stops flares in a couple days and prevents cancer. Please try this and live better

  • @Death2Sanity Okay, I sympathize... Ever since experiencing repeated flare-ups from working in a mould-infested work environment this past summer and autumn, I know that there are times that even diet won't provide the solution as there's something else stressing the body. But maybe I'm making an even stronger point: there usually _is_ something stressing the body that one has to identify, and then take into consideration. Diet, environment, stress... All can affect it. Identify it: that's key.

  • Congratulations for your recovery, Blake. I feel you. God is good. Tell your story. It gives hope to those who are suffering with the same thing. My daughter got UC when she was 12. It culminated with the removal of her large intestine at 13. She is doing MUCH better already. She just got her intestines "reconnected" and is glad to move past the "bag." She will be starting school again for the 1st time is almost a year. Check out my attached video.

  • I have UC. Videos like this scare me.

  • I've been living with UC for 9-years now. I went from 18 pills to 2 per day and from 118lb to 145lb all due to diet, exercise and sleep.

However, I've been hearing more and more about compounds found in hemp such as CBD and THC which are having positive effects on people who suffer from UC, Crohn's and IBS. Why isn't there more research of these molecules being done in the US? Hemp needs to be legalized not just for marijuana, textiles and oil, but for new medications that could save lives.

  • @theidiotslapper ..how did you gain so much weight? can you please send me what you ate? I have been researching online for a year and half but cant seem to find a solid source that helps me gain weight. please reply to zoubeirqadi@yahoo.com

  • @SZY888410

For 2-years, I limited my diet to foods made only from honey, fruits, vegetables, nuts, range free poultry, fully cultured yogurt, cheeses aged for more than six months, and sea food on occasion. I researched a variety of recipes, tweaked them to my taste and wrote everything down; ie flour from almonds. If you eat any soy, corn or wheat products, you're not following the diet. It's too simple.

    Exercise for 30min/day.

    Sleep 9hrs/day.

Live this way, or stay sick.

    It's your choice.

  • @theidiotslapper That's not how it works for everybody dude.

  • @Death2Sanity

I didn't mean to make it sound like it was the only option. I'm just really stoked at how well it worked for me and thousands of others who followed the same regiment. I know this because I'm a certified personal trainer and I got a lot of my tips from a book titled "Breaking The Vicious Cycle" by Elaine Gottschall and books by Dr. Andrew Weil. My suggestions may not work for everyone, but I'd bet they'd work for 99.9% of the people who suffer from UC and other ailments as well.

  • Had the exact same thing!

  • Been there. Got UC at age 16. Surgery at age 24. Unfortunately no chance of reversal for me. Its always good to see people raising awareness. Wish I could get this thing reversed though.

  • Dear friends,

If you suffer from this disease, take this:

    -High quality aloe vera tablets

-always have cabbage + carrot juices

    -Omega3 high quality fish oil.

    -No more dairy

    -try less gluten

    -sport

    -Cut down on stress

and your life will be much better (promise)

  • i got down to 76 pounds and was going in and out of a coma state and near death.i was placed with eatting disorder girls and was forced to eat with so much pain but It kept me alive.

  • little brother blake cheated death

  • extremely lucky boy down to 85 pounds

  • This was an amazing video to watch, it show hope and show so many that anything can be done if you just hold on.

Thank you blake for all the hope.

  • I've had UC since I was 4, for 20 years, and I just went through step 1 of the j-pouch surgery requiring 2 hospitalizations for complications (oh NG tubes and fun torture). I'm currently on bedrest and morphine until my next surgery because there is nothing else they can do. The fact that there is someone who has been through this, and worse, and who has come out of it to lead a normal life and move on from the pain and drugs and frustration is what I needed to hear to get through today. thx.

  • I have this disease but I haven't had to undergo any extreme surgeries such as yours. Do you think there will ever be a cure and if redirecting the small intestine can cure it why isn't it done more often.

  • Thanks for this

  • ANYONE FROM ISRAEL ?

  • Hey Blake!

I was 18, i had 4 months between diagnosis and colon removal. Ive had simular experances to yourself, ive had blokages and adehsions, infections, basically if something could have gone wrong it has!

I had my jpouch made about a month and a half ago, im gonna have my revearsal in a few months and its good to see that someone like me, who has had loads for complcations can go on to have a successful pouch :D

Thank you for sharing your video!

  • you are not alone!

thank you so much for your strength

you are incredible...you are a fighter!!!!

please spread the word and watch my music video for UC and crohn's!!

    thank you so much

  • You aint cool until you have crohns or colitis glad your awsome and better now see you next year

  • I HAVE THE SAME SCAR! :) I went through the same process during my senior year spending about 150 days in the hospital accumitavly. I had the surgery. Unlike what burgmail said, for some people it isnt an option. I tried everything from not eating to naturalpathic remidies, many diets, different drugs... Some people have to have it done. I did and am well today. I eat what I want and have no pain! Thank God!

  • It absolutely PAINS me to read comments from people who believe their only recourse from UC is surgery. I am LIVING PROOF to myself that I can live a normal life, free of surgery and (after an initial spell) free of drugs after being diagnosed with Chronic Ulcerative Colitis (and trust me, the initial flareup was FIERCE). Why should you have to resort to surgery? Click on my name, check out my first video, and join in the discussion!

  • @burgmail Happens dude. Some people get lucky with UC and don't get the flareups. Some, like me, deal with constant flareups and have to have the surgery. Diet works for some, but that's not always how it works.

  • i have had uc for few years now, seems to be getting worse as time passes, hearing stories like this and others helps me prepare me for the possibility of surgery etc in later life. you are all an inspiration, stay strong!

  • that was a Beautiful survival.

i wish i was that man

im tryin 2 not 2 get emotional

  • She makes it sound as though it's a contagious disease.

  • Blake, My name is Susan and I have Crohn's Disease. I had what I thought would be my first and only surgery and ended up being many as well. I also went into septic shock and almost died. Good luck to you!

  • Blake, I have crohns (no cure) but am not going to have surgery as the inflammation will return with Crohns. Your story is moving. I am so very glad you have a happy ending. I am glad you are healed. You went through so much. Your family is wonderful. Best to you in 2009.

  • a year and a half? i guess if i was rich i wouldn't be going on 3 years... don't get me wrong i'm glad he is better, i just wish i was too

  • ULCERATIVE COLITIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!

:[ good thing hes better now

  • I feel for you! my story is exactly the same as your minus the ceptic shock and nealy dying! its not nice! i am happy and healthy now thanks to my surgeon!

  • i also share the same story of ulcerative colitis. comma and almost death my ileostomy is irreversable i will have it until i die.
