Told to "sing down" not to make all them amatuers look to bad? What was going on in producer Woody Allen's head? Well, one of these days I'm gonna hear Goldie at karaoke without the pressure of a show like this, singing maybe, "What's Up," which don't take no being pink or non-blonde!
Woody knows the taste of the greatest period of American showbiz world. This is wonderful hommage to it with, in a sense, the most American "ish" actress Goldie. I really admire this remarkable film director.
Oh, to have grown up a rich Jew in a sprawling apartment on the upper east side of Manhattan... and gone to the Dalton School and spent holidays in Paris.
One of the reasons just about every actor and actress want to appear in a Woody Allen movie because there's always a chance he'll come up with something like this. And this film, by the way, is one of Goldie's best.
I think this scene is a sort of quote of the dance scene in "An American in Paris" where Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron dance at the Seine near a bridge at night. :-)
this was done live on camera, golidie was wired in a harness and attached by wires to a crane, same thing they used to make superman fly with, this is not cgi, she did an amazing job of making it look so effortless
Of course it is, but hey don't sing the whole timethe songs are all amazing, and the movie is also really funny! If you've never seen it, go for it! I'm pretty sure you'll love it! ;o)
uhhh, what a wonderful scene, i was somewhat disappointed with everyone says i love you until the last twenty or so minutes and this number is splendid.

I liked this movie. But I have a problem with the fact that Woody Allen thinks his character would actually a chance with Julia Roberts. He's a sly dawg!
Believe it or not, when I went to the movie in 1996, I was the only one in the theatre. It's a good movie, and this duet scene is so wonderful~ what a magic!
Im from Orange and Fearne Cotton interviewed her for us on the Red Carpet, if you search for bafta 2009 goldie hawn interview with Fearne Cotton you'll find it!
I have a feeling Woody is copying someone here. Not that I don't think he's talented, but he does copy a lot. Can anyone confirm this / name the source?
Several of WA's movies are homages (not copies) to the directors, or styles of film making, that he admired growing up. Your use of the word "copying" strikes me as odd, and a more than a bit foolish.
Yes, okay, fine. "Paying homage." I never intended to imply that his works are derivative or diminished because of it. I'm a more than a bit sorry if I've offended your sensibilities.
I interpreted the flying as symbolism for the magic that never died between Joe and Steffi, two people who were "made for each other and not made for each other," to borrow a quote from another Woody movie.
Best scene of the movie. Just love it. I remember when i showed this movie to one of my German friend, he adored it but thought it was weird coming from an Haitian chick. Goes to show that Music has no barrier

Some years ago, I tried to do this dance with a girl. I think she’s still in the hospital.
At least she knows now the meaning of the song: “I’m through with love – I’ll never fall again”!

Golden Age's romantic comedies and it calls 'paying homage', not copying.

Goldie has always been a 'Supergirl' but, I didn't know she was that awesome. :)
My flying (in dreams) is about that light but, not as stable.
The NTSB would consider mine to be "Controlled flight into terrain". XD
