Some people like the taste of meat even though they choose not to eat it for ethical, environmental, and/or health reasons. It's also fun to have fake meat things sometimes, like fake turkey at Thanksgiving! It's a way to question tradition while participating in it dans une façon ludique. It's important to keep oneself playful and open in life, regardless of lifestyle choices you make.
If it bothers you that folks eat vegan taco salad, maybe question the source of your unease? It´s curious.
@mrsdishes **N**ayonnaise, ie. vegan mayonnaise, eggless mayonnaise. There are lots of vegan mayonnaises - Vegenaise, Naturespread, etc. I like Nayonnaise the best :) Enjoy!
There are many types of fake meat, you can use straight TVP (soy). The Yves ground round has wheat, soy, oil, and a bunch of ingredients in it, yummy chemicals! Tasty though! You could make a very nice alternative with fried mushrooms in coconut oil and some braggs (or whatever sauce you like) I bet. Basically, you need something warm, squishy, and vaguely ground-round like.
@stargirlsusan There is vegan cheese on the market. It can be purchased in health food stores, whole foods, and online. I recommend daiya for melting on pizza or anything, follow you heart for fondue and caprese. Dr. Cow is the best gourmet, followed by sheese, yum! There is blue and feta cheese. Nutritional yeast flakes are great parmesan. You can make your own too!
Why is it that Vegans go to such lengths to not harm animals but I have yet to meet one who treats their own body with respect. They inject themselves full of ink in the form of Tattoos and they cover themselves in metal peircings.
Well, obviously consent is a factor - animals don't choose death and suffering. Secondly, tattoos and piercing don't kill us. Thirdly, tattoos and piercings have long been part of human history (so has vegetarianism but they aren't related). Lastly "treating the body with respect" is a socially constructed idea. Are women's bodies treated with respect in our culture? Tattoos or no? Personal expression is one way that people use to reclaim control over their own bodies - which is self-respect.
Some animals do as a matter of fact. Many kinds of insects allow their childeren to eat them.
Secondly tatoos and peircings don't kill us if done correctly but if not, certain diseases we can get will kill us. Similar to how AIDS doesn't kill us but we still consider it to be the killer.
And thirdly, choosing not to eat meat for moral purposes is no less of a social construct than respecting one's body.
And man has eaten meat for a long time as well. So time is a null argument.
I have my own Taco Salad recipe which is Non-Vegan, actually I used to be a vegetarian. Anyway, I thought that adding the refried beans made the salad too heavy in the presentation and ultimately led to the final presentation looking very glum and gloppy, just not eye appealing at all. So, visit my profile and if you are vegan, just omit the lean ground beef and add extra kidney beans for more protein and you will be great to go!!
aw i love you and your recipes. i cant believe i only found your videos last week! its so hard to find good vegan recipes thanks so much for making them. you should really have your own show on tv and more subscribers on youtube
You make cooking fun. Keep it up.
I'm glad to know that the AAO533 is vegan and sans chocolat. LOL

Whether you eat it or not the meat is going to be on the shelves, all you're doing is making it go to waste.

@PsychoticButcher Right, brillant. Your comprehension of market economics is mind-numbing.
In any case, just because someone chooses to be vegan, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are on a crusade to change the entire world.

great How To! I just never understood how vegans/vegetarians can eat "meat subsitute"... anything that tastes remotely like an animal makes me sick.
