I bought this new...And STILL love it to death. and yes, considering a clean copy of this might set you back up to 500 bucks these days, it WAS the best 3.99 I ever spent. ;-)
Well done! Can anyone who has ever heard this amazing song even comprehend how it's NEVER been available on CD? And it still holds up 25 years later. Cannot give this song enough praise - it's one of my Top 10, if not my #1 outright....
@abecedarianscom Glad you like it. This was the best $6.99 I ever spent on a used record (back in '89). So glad the record was in good shape even though the sleeve was worn. I tried to take good care of it over the past two decades. Hey, if you like these guys you might like another 80's band called "Lowlife". I thought they had a similar sound to the Abecedarians, especially on the vocals.
@dmpap1996 Well, it's official: just put this as my #1 on my 'Favorites'. Your story is just like mine (For me, best $7.99 ever spent!)...Saw another copy at Tower Records when it first opened in Boston and bought it as back-up. Still have it and it's still sealed with the price sticker! Thanks for the info about 'Lowlife'...While I don't see the Durutti Column & New Order similarities others seem to find with this band (I always thought them sort of like 'Faith'-era Cure),try early Trisomie 21
Yeah, the music here is pretty timeless. Can't say that about much of the music that's on the radio these days. I digitized the songs on my record just in case my old B&O turntable dies. I have to admit its pretty cool to be able to listen to this on my iPod. :)
I still have this record, yes, record! Wore it out, though cause its so damn good.. they bridged the Goth/Rock divide and looking back, they helped creat the post-rock template.
Just stumbled across the Abecedarians although I've been listening to goth music for 20 years ! Nice to know there are still some pleasant surprises out there.
(This song has a New Order flavour to it, but from what I'm hearing the Abecedarians were quite eclectic in style)
Thumb up for like, but what do you click on if you love it? This track is marvelous! Joy Division meets Chameleons UK. How did I miss this band?
