I guess it is not good for home practice, cause it gets really loud!! If you want your powertubes to make the sound distorted, you need to crank up the volume. Also i think it is too loud for simple jams, but for live use it is awesome
can't wait to afford one ... good amps that rivals with the handwired marshalls (since , inside it's handwired and since it is the same thing inside the amp ... don't look at the stupid logo , hear the tone and save money . money can buy something more useful than a marshall logo ! it can give you a new guitar , new clothes , a tape echo and several pedals ... )
Not true at all... cause the power of an amp (in watts) needs to be ten times bigger if you want to hear the sound twice as loud. In fact, a 100watt amp is about 5dB louder than a 20watt. However, a 200watt amp is twice louder than a 20watts amp.
@rockard94 Someone knows about exponents. Finally, an educated comment about amplifier db's in relation to wattage. So many people misinterpret that. Basically the amp just delivers a few more decibels but really increases the bass response as wattage increases. These low watt amps are great for bar playing. Your audience and singer will love you for them.
What an uneducated, imbecilic comment. From someone who apparently has no idea where volume and tone come from...probably thinks that a stack of 100 watt Marshalls (you know, just like on MTV videos)is what they use in the studio.
So Im going to order the same thing, but instead make a small 1X12 combo for college (with my dad as well). How difficult was it for you guys to build?
Great amp. Did you build it? I'm planning a 18 watt project. I'm looking to replicate the 1974x as close as possible without spending 2300 on a new one. I've looked at MOJO, Weber, Ceriatone etc. Any advice?
I'm thrilled with my Ceriatone. BTW DJunks2, you've posted this same question on about 50 other videos. Not to be rude, but check out some discussion boards on the topic.
you guys still got it wrong .,.. doubling the power gives you a 3 db increase .,.. go google it and find out the facts

Would this amp be good for home practice, jams, and possible smallish to medium venues?
rockfreak611 2 years ago
as long as you don't need much clean headroom, you'd be fine.

Nice demo. I really liked the Keef-ish tones at around 1:15. Might consider one of these clones from Collins.

+1 , this is right
tried a 20w marshall and a 100w just after . sounded twice louder .
but , twice louder than 20w , is loud enough to shake the walls since 20w are able to blow your thong away ! lol

Yep! Sure encompasses all of the wimpyness of an underachiever...18 watts oh boy!!! Give me a break!
cavlovc1 3 years ago
Umm, well if you want to jam in your basement, and hear the power tubes break up these are the real deal.
Some of these hand wired kit amps are 1/4 of the cost and far more reliable than draging around a 100 Marshall and a power brake.
Don't knock 'em till you try 'em!!

18 watts doesn't necessarily mean quiet, and its obviously got great tone.
