  • Everyone always just listens to Genesis Tonight Tonight. I don't think many people know that they had so many great songs besides that one. I heard this song on sirius yesterday. Just another example of there greatness. This song is absolute Beauty.

  • Great clean cool breezy sound. Haven't heard this for maybe a decade.

  • From the last great Genesis album in my opinion, much better album than Invisible Touch and We Can't Dance. This may be even better than Abacab, the production alone on this album is amazing.

  • Great song ....from Bogota Colombia i say ....Genesis and Phil ..master for ever

  • This goes out to my lost love Dawn O. I hope you're happy.

  • AWSOME

  • It's tragic that great songs like this sometimes come from personal lost ! Phil cut this song while going through a bitter divorce !

    SB

  • goodness, i had my ipod replay this over and over and over :) This is my number one fave from Phil Collins...i love all his songs except for that Tarzan cartoon theme song. hehehe

  • life would be shit without phil collins in it.

  • you know if you add in Genesis with Phil's work..he is one of the biggest acts of all times...especially dominating the 80's

  • 0 dislikes.................. Gotta love it !!!

  • phil launched Genesis to a completely new level ! With ALL due respect , I just got bored with Peter's circus props.

  • THIS IS SIMPLY A BEAUTIFUL SONG. SO FUK"N BEAUTIFUL. Thanks to Phil, Tony and MIke and producer Hugh Padghem. It's great to hear stuff when EVERYTHING just rolls together as it should.

  • This song has a healing quality about it.

  • One of there many classics........great hearing it again

  • tony looks hungover in the first picture

  • This is great. Thanks.

  • Love this song!!!!

  • My favorite Genesis song. And Ihave no idea why.

  • it sound like a song written by tony banks

  • It sounds like a Christophher Cross song isn´t it?

  • Thank you for posting this masterpiece. Phil provided the soundtrack of my youth in the '70s and '80s. I've kind of gotten away from his music in recent years, but after hearing this, it just reminds me of what a musical genius he is.

  • @FastEddie95 couldn't AGREE with you more FastEddie. he provided the soundtrack for my youth as well. i too had gotten away from his music but it sure does feel good to hear this again.

    Will

  • thank god for letting phil collins be born! he looks hotter as he grows older. i am forty one. so what. he is hottttttttttttttt.

  • This song is so awesome. I love it.

  • And to think if Gabriel never left we woulda never got to hear Phil and his awesome voice! Thanks Peter.....Phil, you are the MAN!

  • @habsman1 I often think about that. I like Gabriel era Genesis but once he left and Phil took over they just got better. If Gabriel didn't quit I still think Phil would have made solo albums though. He just has too much creativity in him.

  • This is a great song from Phil Collins. Love the post.

  • This was one of their very finest recordings IMO, I couldn't get enough of it. So haunting, at times depressing to me musically - but they just had a gift for creating different moods like this. Phil Collins has one of the most instantly recognizable voices too - sounds commercial but at the same time brilliant - like the Bee Gees and all of the very best artists.

  • @falldownhard. very well said, a melancholy song with a touch of friendly support, as if Phil is patting you on the back saying you're too hard on yourself. I have sweet memories of this song, Autumn of 1983, I think.

  • My Favorite Genesis song! These are some wonderful photos of Phil!

  • May have lost " the one" for good she`s getting married but she still loves me, I know she cant wait forever for me to make up my "mind" Its been 5 years of on and off. long as she`s happy im happy for her. only time will tell whats meant for us but i must move on PHIL told me im takin it all to hard, and I told him im takin it all to heart, damn...

  • I was put on this song on Spotify but quickly altered it back to Home By The Sea. "So many years ago!"

I am not taking it too hard at all. It cannot be overstated I believe. So many years ago!

  • my fav it is so awesome!

  • nice song... great voice..!!

  • Thanks for having so many great vids of Genesis! I've heard that the majority of their fans have been guys, but this is one girl who loves, loves, loves, em! Why is it that everybody thinks gals don't like the instrumental parts of songs as much as guys? The bass on No reply at all is kick A**, and there is never a time that Phil doesn't put his heart and soul into his singing. He has that strained quality(the kind that is just right) in any song he sings.mmmm,mmm. :)

  • This Song Is As Beautiful Then As It Is Today

  • Love the changes, vocals, bossa nova beat.....blended like a fine wine. I remember slow dancing to this song with a somewhat quick sway to the beat. Great song to dance to. Brings back alot of memories from the 80s....

  • Oh the memories. Why was it that the 80s produced such melodious and heavenly music? How did we degenerate into the kind of stuff that passes of for music. Not to say nothing is good today, just that its not very common. I hope this new generation is reintroduced to my generation X's music. Thanks for posting.

  • @chicago618 Very well said!

  • Phil is a god.

  • Too bad Phil Collins was a major ahole and ruined the band for a solo career mostly revolving around cheesy love songs :-(

Granted he had a few good hits early on though.

  • @hospitalbedpan1 Actually, Peter Gabriel was the a-hole that left the band high and dry, and almost ruined them. Phil Collins came from behind the drums to lead vocals to make them even better than before. Phil Collins, like many others (Sting, etc.), just moved on to pursue other ventures. I'm glad he did....love his solo stuff.

  • This is the PERFECT lead off song for date night at the apartment. Throw in some Shiraz and dark chocolate and whoa buddy!

  • Thank you for All your Quality Phil Collins postings.

You Got : Throwing It All Away ? :)

  • my pleasure :)

about the song you've asked, I've uploaded several videos of it !

  • This to me was one of the best songs off of this album. 1983 was such a great musically! Totally awesome! Brings back incredible memories of my early college years!

  • Yes, wonderful song!

  • great song from a amazing record!

  • I was born in the 80s, so I grew up being exposed to this type of music. I hadn't heard this song until a few years ago, but I loved it right away when I did. It was like that instant feeling I got when I heard my very first favorite song when I was only 4 years old.

  • Best left-handed drummer alive!

  • Great

  • Yeah, finally this song is uploaded, from 1983. Time flies

  • i really do like this one its hidden on the album but its sweet

  • this song sounds like he`s thinking out loud to himself

  • yup awesome song one of my fav.

  • Delicate...

  • This was one of my favorite songs in the 80's.

  • You did a fabulous job of a Phil photo collage. Very creative. Love this song from a great album which forme represents my teen age days the best.

    Thanks

  • @probbins329 YOU WROTE A MOUTHFUL THERE! LOLOL

  • great song. this album was always sitting in the cheapo bin for 99 cents for some reason

  • This song was taken from their self-titled album GENESIS released in 1983. It contains a lot of my favorites including this one, SILVER RAINBOW, THAT'S ALL, MAMA, HOME BY THE SEA.

  • One of the Finest Songs ~ Something about the Emotion He puts into it.

    Great Post

    Thanks

  • yes, it really is something special =)

thanks for your comment, and you're very welcome.... best regards!

  • @deec269 AGREED...pc is one of the very best...

  • excellent song from a fantastic album

it's good how in songs he sings peacefully for a while and then unleashes the powerful vocals

  • what album was this from ?

  • album is called "genesis" =)

  • yeah the album is just called Genesis, the cover is yellow and black and has picture of some plastic shapes - the kind for toddlers to put through holes that are the same shape

  • That's why it's been nicknamed "The Shapes Album" by fans of the band :) (even the band themselves call it that).

  • @PPX14 I think the plastic shapes are from the game perfection

  • this song is absolutely the best diagnosis of the dysfunctional relationship i endured,.. I love him still and always,...

  • totally... love is blind =)

  • Wonderful song, and Phil is one of the greatest singers ever. 5 stars :)

  • thanks, enjoy =)

  • Shame this song wasn't performed live :(
