my bus drivers 06 CE300 the transmission died on it so for a while she said it would be a while for it was fixed so we are riding on a 95 carpenter international
@giannial1985 hey bud I am same way I still to watch this old video of this bus I havent ever heard one mated with DT-360 but I am sure it doesnt sound to much different
@schindlerman96 Yeah, growing up, my driver had a 1990 65 pass. Ward Volunteer, International DT-360 with the AT-545 and the whine from it was very prominent. Even louder then in this video. Always loved the sound of it, especially mixed with the 360. :)
The District i drive for use some kind of 90s BlueBird/Carpenter/International S1700.....i personally haven't driven one, but they sound nice for an older bus...
being i drive a 90s Thomas SAF T LINER White Top RE.
I recently started driving for my local school district and they still have a lot of old Internationals and Freightliners. Most of which are stickshift. Is the Freightliner you drive a stick?
my school district has a lot of carpenters from the 90's monday and tuesday of this week my regular bus was being borrowed and i rode a 95 carpenter international with the DT466 i dont think none of the carpenters my district has or T444E just DT466 and maybe DT466E
I remember riding 87-2, Carpenter International when I was younger. I never saw a bus like these before with their brown seats, Such a distinct type of brown you don't normally see in buses.
I am a fan of the DT/466 myself. when i was in school after they went from S1700and S1800s to International 3800 most had DT/466 a few had T444E and those always seem to give them problems. DT/466 would run forever pretty much.
when i was in school our company had 1980s S1700 and S1800 and the ones with DT/466 had the little DT/466 logo on the hood they always seem to run good. even when they got Navistar 3800 the DT/466s ran better then the T444E. They only had 2 with T444E rest were DTs and those 2 were always in the shop then they trade them off and added more DT/466
i'm pretty sure it's probably got an MT-643. AT-545s can't handle the torque of the DT466. They were usually mated to T444Es and other versions of the "powerstroke".
i understand i will be out of school June 1st the kind of video i had in mind was like do a walk around of the 97 amtran international and then in the video do a start up and drive of the bus is kind of what i had in mind and if there is any other buses your company do a video similar to the one im requesting and also when do you get out of school until you can do this i still enjoy what videos you have uploaded please reply as soon as possible arcofadiver1 thanks schindlerman96

I still like watching this video. I like the sound of the AT-545 with the DT-466. Sounds no different then when it's mated to the DT-360.

I like buses who have that engine who makes that sound like that. DT466 buses are my favorites.

I've never heard of DT466E.
arcofadiver1 2 years ago
DT466 and DT466E do not have that big of difference the 466E is mostly on newer internationals maybe like 2000 and up
schindlerman96 2 years ago 2
@arcofadiver1 DT466E = electronically controlled DT466. The engine that's in this bus is mechanically controlled (no computer).

Yeah the other Carpenter my company had had greenish colored seats. The brown seats definitely stood out when I drove this bus for the first time.

Yeah my company has owned 2 T444E buses and both of them have had way more mechanical issues than the DT466.

This is the engine on some of the buses I rode in elementary school. 7.3L V8 engine right?
Geforce2187 2 years ago
I think so.
arcofadiver1 2 years ago
This is the 7.6L DT466 V6 :) The 7.3L V8 is called the T444E
giannial1985 2 years ago
i think my 07 ic ce300 with a dt466 maxxforce engine has a at545 allison automatic. pst all i know is that its an allison
zusca159 2 years ago
Nope, Allison stopped making the 4 speed AT545 in the late 90's. Your's would have there newer 5 speed auto.
giannial1985 2 years ago
The MT-643 was also available in the same period, and it was superior to the AT-545 in that it had a locking torque converter to save fuel.
ClassicTVMan81 2 years ago
True, and the MT-643 was way smoother shifting and quieter then the AT-545
giannial1985 2 years ago
there is a bus at my school that maxxforce DT on it
schindlerman96 2 years ago
Yeah, the maxxforce DT you have would most likely be the 7.6L DT466 like the bus in this video has :)

Music to my ears! Carpenter + 466 = great combo.
maineboy1979 2 years ago
amen it does
schindlerman96 2 years ago
Actually, from the sound of it, this bus does have the AT-545 mated to the DT466. Which is rare. The MT-643 doesn't whine at all.
giannial1985 3 years ago
I loooooooooove the sound of a dt466 whit the At-545. At high rpm's, et sounds almost like a cummins.

at my district, all of the old full size Internationals are DT466s mated to AT-545s... slow as hell but they do work...
and we also got a shorty T444E mated to an AT-545 and a pair of Vista shorties, same thing.

Also, how long is it, 71 Passenger Seats? as in 71-13" seats?
RobertPaniagua 3 years ago
It's a 64 passenger with 12 rows of seats. My company also has a 1997 Amtran International which is 71-13". I have yet to make a video of it though.

Nice video! Is that a DT360 or a DT466?
bluebirdgmc83 3 years ago
DT466. What's crazy is that my company also has a 1993 and a 1997 International and they are both T444E and the 1990 has the most power.
arcofadiver1 3 years ago
The DT466 is a more powerful and durable engine than the 444-E
bluebirdvision 3 years ago
the DT466 is a straight-six
the T444 is a V8
DT466 > T444
