"Fluttering" and there is a BOV. It doesn't mean it sucks, it just means it's set to open at a high boost pressure. I used to purposely set the HKS BOV on my old GSX at a high spring rate to flutter the turbo. It would only open for a split second and then close back up causing back pressure in the boost tubes.
@blown262 and doing so hurts the turbo having back build in pressure like that the BOV was designed to relieve pressure on the turbo. most people believe that a BOV is to protect the engine but when you let of the throttle the butter fly only allows so much air to pass even with boost applied to the butterfly plate. so in return it it tries to escape back threw the turbo causing problems
You are entirely incorrect. Most people don't know what a BOV is and those who do know it is to let excess pressure escape to keep the turbo spooled during shifts. That is the only purpose of a BOV. It is not to protect the turbo as back pressure does not hurt the turbo. The turbo never stops its forward rotation so there are no inherent oiling issues and because the throttle plate is closed, the engine is making no power and no heat, so heat is not a killer either.
If back pressure hurt turbos, every diesel on the market would have one. If your turbo blows up (assuming you have a decent, non eBay turbo) it is from abuse, lack of maintenance, or bearing play. Go spool a diesel on a brake stand and sharply let off. You get pretty nice flutter especially on and older Cummins. This does not hurt the turbo as stated before, but it does kill the boost pretty instantly. Talk to real racers and they will tell you why they run BOVs
I wasn't asking what bov but rather just saying "what bov?" since it wasn't working in this vid and just pushing the boost back out the compressor causing the flutter sound.
why the hell are people obsessed with this shit. it's just a noise. go pop open a bunch of soda cans or 2 liters if a noise like that rocks your cock so much.
It did have a CBV (compressor bypass valve) But either the vac line came off or it was simply too small. It sure wasn't a little one. That was my bros car.

it saddens me that when people hear a turbo in pain they think its just an awesome blow off sound. i mean come on guys you shouldn't own a turbo if you cant tell the difference between air venting out a valve and air surging the wrong way through a turbo.
