@HaggardEffect Actually, that was back when we were still finding new ways of playing the instrument, plus the foundation of distorted amplifiers (by accident, miraculously). It wasn't one of those completely digital bullshit out of the box ways of thinking where it has no feel to it. There's no soul in it, nothing.

@KissMeImPunk How is this not a new way to play the instrument? Also, you sound like one of those people who refuse to play with anything that isn't analog. Analog can sound better, but using digital effects opens up so many different doors and introduces so many different ways that you can play guitar. Anyone that says digital distortion beats analog is a dirty liar, sure. But modulation, pitch, time-based, etc. effects can be recreated digitally very well.

Digital effects are much more affordable and that is great for people just starting out. There will always be people who like to play with just a guitar and an amplifier, maybe a fuzz pedal in between. This is a different way to play guitar for people who want to play a different kind of music.

@KissMeImPunk One reason the electric guitar was invented was because acoustic guitars weren't loud enough. Do you think the people who made the first electric guitars intended for them to be used with distortion? Back then, distortion wasn't a feature. Distortion was the sign of a cheap amp, not like today. Some players cranked their amps, and really liked the crunchy overdrive. A lot of people didn't like it because that's not how a guitar is meant to be played. Oh wait...
