In case you haven't been paying attention (and I can see from your description you haven't) Doughty's had a successful solo career since about 2001, not spent his time "haunting internet messageboards." It doesn't sound like you "get it" at all. At least you can look forward to being an aging hipster in a few years though.

The only thing worse than a questionable comment from the poster -- who has at least taken the time and effort to provide something for us to enjoy -- is the pretentious fuck who wants to cut him down to size but isn't up to the task.

obviously the aim was to point out to the poster that Mike Doughty is a great solo artist, Haughty Melodic is one of my favorite albums, I saw him in SF a few years ago live, he WAS awesome, great songwriter, i wish more 20-somethings would figure out what good songwriting is, FYGLPH probably doesn't know who WILCO is - or would be put off the age of the crowd, hilarious

I love Doughty, I'm just 17. He has a huge young following in Minnesota. I'd say he's one of my biggest influences.
