It had been Marks idea to have her ask him for a baby, thats why she told him first. When he changed his mind, he kept that part to help us understand that she still loves him so she wanted him to know first.
i was confused tooo! i was like, wait, does that mean she still loves lucas? and in a few episode earlier when they had the flashback of after lucas prposed to peyton, brooke says to her mom that lucas woulda been the only guy she might have gave up her business's future for. or something like that.
i think she still loves him, but just want her friends happiness to come first
