  • pine needles are the best for your smoker as it is a lot cooler, this guy needs to tidy his bee yard up a little, stray bees flying in the apairy from other peoples colonies is not a good idea if AFB is present

  • Hoh gay with the subs on middle of screen.

  • good intorductory info, especially not standing in front of the hive.

  • Thanks, But I always smoke weed first, then open hive. That works best for me.

  • tomcat, I get it - funny

but I found this site very useful

I'm just starting out - it made sense to me

  • Also wear light colored clothing, do not wear dark stuff or fur, suede etc... Don't use chemicals such as gas to start your smoker, it irritates them; use burlap, wood shavings or pine needles.

  • I was a beekeeper for many years and always used torn-up corrugated cardboard in the smoker...worked a dream...

Using smoke is something of an art form - knowing how much (little) to use and just when to stop is the trick.

  • @danboone143 colour means nothing i wear dark clothing and have not been stung in the last four times i stripped an entire yard of 30 or more it has more to do with demenour when working with the bees

  • haha on the lips lol thay wont to kiss you

  • It's extremely hard to smoke bees......I could never keep them lit, for one, and secondly.......I always get stung on the lips!!
