Holly, you may not remember me, but I used to attend church with you, and we never knew each other formally; I always watched and envied you, hidden amongst the sea of faces at RHCC. Holly, you always seemed so happy, but beyond that happiness, I saw a piece missing. I knew that you delved into surfing with such ferociousness for a reason. We all have our vices; some legal, some not, and you chose surfing. I knew that it was to cover a pain that ran deep, I just didnt know how deep it ran.
I have done & seen things, & been places that most people would be ashamed to admit. Though we never saw eye to eye, my father NEVER proclaimed what I was doing as a waste of time; for to do so, would be to call my very existence a waste of time, it would mean I was a waste of time. Obviously if it meant enough to me that I invested my time and energy into it, then, it must be valuable, however great or small that value was or whether or not he could see the value of it at all, didnt matter.
To Mrs. Beck: you may never agree with your daughters decisions, you may never see eye to eye, but get over yourself, and get beyond that. Just be glad that your daughter hasnt gotten into what most kids our age do. I am 28 years old and have been in so much trouble, and have caused my mom such great heartache; I wasted so many years, years I wish I could take back, years we should have spent building memories instead of fighting and tearing each other down.
When you have children, there are no guarantees. But they were not asked to be brought into this world. You cannot ask them to dream big and then try to dictate their dreams. Let their dreams be their dreams and their lives be their lives. Love them today, within the here and now, instead of when its too late, and all you have are memories to keep you company and to remind you of the loved one you failed to love and accept just as they were.

I'm "older" and have no kids, no wife, I can do whatever I want whenever I want to.
1. Because I CAN !
2. I'm selfish. I'll give to others as much as I can, but only WHEN I want to.
3. I'm smart enough to know I should'nt have children.
Sure, might be awesome... but those of you that have kids... look at me !
Am I missing out ? Probably, but how would I know ?
