  • BUILT BY INCAT AN AUSTRALIAN COMPANY BASED IN TASMANIA! NOT ANY US COMPANY! ugh.. If it works and is great it has to be made in the US... grr idiots

  • Few US companies have any Experiance with Catamarans, And as far as i know, INCAT, Austal, and General Dynamics are the only ones with experiance with military applications, With INCAT having the most experiance.. When comes down the Military applications for Catamarans, Australia is the best.

  • Been on board a few like this,10 times more or less, they operate in the Canary Islands (Spain). Fast like hell, huge capacity and a very comfortable ride. I think it is a good idea for military use. And happy for Incat ;)

  • Highly doubt we'll be seeing any Harriers on these boats, or shall I say the ones that the US Army operates as the army has no Harriers or any other fixed wing aircraft. The sister service (USMC) does operate, Harriers and other fixed wing aircraft.

  • Quite the contrary logistics, medevac, mail, personnel have to be moved and staged so you will see all these military ships with helicopter and even Marine Harriers as tactical support.

  • Incat is an Australian company, another Australian company called Austal builds a very similar ship.

  • Yes it does and a fine ship they make at 21 meter beam could serve a medical hospitals.. INCAT ships are minimum 23 meter beam much wider and better suited for military roles!

  • A ship to kill people even faster, great!

  • Hey Dude!

You don't realize how many American lives will be saved by this new technology. While your bitching about it terroists and warlords are thinking of more ways to kill Americans every day. That includes "Assholes in America" that would let our freedoms get taken away because they can't of won't defend them!

  • intresting ship, but all those strykers were NOT combat ready. no birdcage or uparmor. hell i dont even know if a stryker would fit down that ramp with a birdcage on it lol. its would be really close.

  • This video was intended for actuation purposes only, believe me when they are armored the U.S. won't use bird cage.

We're in the modern age of reactive armor which can be redilly applied as needed for diferent wartime applications.

  • The US doesn't own this ship anymore, they only had it for 5 years. It now sails from Douglas in the Isle of man, under the name of "Manannán mac Lir".

    And yes they are fast.

  • Sadly enough not all Military Directorate appreciates this technology....that is until a bunch of old ass Naval ships get blown out of the water. Then as damage control & CYA these ships will be pressed into service. Sadly it woun't ease the greiving families of the dead!

  • its got good speed but i bet the armour is shit

  • Armor you haven't seen armor and to that M134's, Aegis, A Rail Gun and Tommahawk Cruise missles and youv'e got one booty phat SCUD buster.

  • modified commercial ferry? stripped down model around 50 mil.?

  • Used 74 meter older conversion with new configuration about $20+mil I priced one to be used as a floating casino for a Native Nation.

  • it's cool

  • this looks like the "NORMAN ARROW" that we crossed the english channel on this summer

  • Probably made by INCAT.

  • are these the fast ships that were built in australia for the USN?? coz i know the yanks bought fast cats that were built in australia

  • Yes.

  • this was built in Alabama at an Austrialian own company called Austal. the same builders as the Failed Hawaii Superferry.

  • No it was bulit by Bollinger who has an agreement with INCAT of Australia. If you take a close look at an Austrail ship [1] it doesnt have the ocean going Hydrofiol, [2] it's only 21 meters beam and [3] its a fine ship but id didn't win the world oceangoing challange like INCAT.

  • MADE IN AUSTRALIA

  • This is an Australian idea, as we have had these types of boats since 2000 and have used them in combat at east timore.

Then we have sallow water subs which in play combat have sunks a US aircraft carrier, the US have no way of combatting that type of attack, so they were going to have a sallow water sub but caned the project last year or this year.

    but these ships are great.

  • Great ship a logistical marvel.

  • I wonder, will the HSV-2 (not the one in the video, but another USN HSV which is now still in service) be replaced by the Joint High Speed Vessel or supplement the JHSV fleet?

  • To much ABILITY!!! Boooring!!

  • This video is designed for the U.S. military and foreign nations operation so it doesn't matter. ABILITY is real world. Got 80 million? Well then your opinion is just that. Try sailing on one then comment.

  • Who makes this? As in which company has been developing this?

  • Australia

  • this is Australian made and it started out at a People/ Vehicle Ferry. Keeping up with the times and multi-role mobility the newer WPC's Wave Piercing Catermarans can provide unlimited service applications: Aircraft Carriers, Medical hospitals, Troop & Equipment Transports for military. In commercial version Casinos, Resort Use, Corporate Office, Home Away from Home for the Ultra Mogul.

  • must be awesome seing that coming out of the dock.

  • These craft operate in the Caribbean, Mediterranean , Europe even in Japan.

  • It could provide the same deck area and cargo space as a much larger single-hull ship. Don't know about frigates but certainly this is how future aircraft carriers will look like.

  • The INCAT was designed on a modular system for flexible planning. All the vehicle decks float so they can be reconfigured on short notice.

  • not to bad

  • Built in Hobart, Tasmania, not bad aye

  • Leave it to thwe Ausies to one up the world. Bet Mad Max wished he had one of these?

  • Cheesy narrator.

  • Hey don't knock the success story. These ships have won world sea competitions as the fastest ocean going vessels with an average speed of 45+ knots.

  • You shouldn't take the comments so seriously. I didn't say anything bad about the craft itself. I believe that the craft is as good as thay say it is :)

  • Would love to see a helicopter on the back of that thing! P.S. Its Al-you-min-yum not Ah-loo-min-umm!!

  • they have options for tha and more..imagine a flight of Harrier Jmup Jets on the decks.

  • Imagine joining the Army... only to become a sailor for that boat. Heh.

  • This is now Manannan operating in the Isle Of Man.

  • Sorry to say this but US doesn't' the money anymore. BUSH spent it all.

  • Not to worry. Obama is printing more!

  • YOu are a moron. OBAMA is spending over 1.8 trillion in 2009. FOUR TIMES MORE THAN BUSH IN 2008. Get your facts straight liberal moron.

  • built in Hobart

  • Built in Perth?

  • Allso built in the U.S. cooperative venture with Bolland U.S.A.

  • You're a fucking dumb ass.....that's protecting wealth right there. You seem to be preaching fiscally conservative values, but completely ignore the principles of Adam Smith.

Me thinks you ain't really a capitalist at all, but a confused liberal throwing wood in the fire.

  • cool!

  • Aussie Class of ship - the RAN decommissioned theirs after the Timor War, it was good as a high speed shuttle between Darwin and Dili but as far as being practical enough to build in large numbers - don't think so.

  • you haven't seen the newer ones capable of ocean travel 98 & 110 meters. More refined even have a single front hydrofoil now.

  • we have that one in philippines but the government dont owns it only to our community.. y0u know what i mean

  • how many crew are there in this vessel? tanx alot.. GOdbless

  • Each crew is a variable number some of the ferries have at least two restaurants, a gift shop, nursery care, excersize room and so on. Then ther is the main crew and captain.

  • Hey, you guys are being too critical! This was a GREAT idea when it first went up on the drawing board, maybe 20 years ago.

The minor glitch of current world politics, character of combat zones and combatant forces, character of factional shifts, the entire fucking global economy, & the alternative capabilities that have been developed for combat troop/equipment insertion all combining to make this pimped-out landing craft NOW-OBSOLETE is something we can deal with if we just all work together!

  • The guy speaking sounds completely mind controlled. The "power" monologue is pushy propaganda. He doesn't know diddly-nothing about "the future" except guys like him destroy the future. Yeah buddy just keep saying the same three power words over and over. "Striker Brigade Combat Team." You ought to be ashamed over this mauling of words. Vacant in purpose. This is the talk of greed. "Hit the ground." "Important." More like "self-important."

  • Three words? Striker--1, Brigade--2, Combat--3, Team--4....hmm...

Just like I just illustrated, please come up with a proper argument before you start arguing.

  • his video was designed for the military not the general public. speaking to a scientist you speak in symbols and equasions; speaking to the military you speak warfare terms.

  • isle of man steam packet have one now

  • these ships are built in Tasmania,Australia

  • There is an American cooperative venture with Bloand USA now

  • the USA has these

  • billions and billions wasted for this..

  • Not at all. I believe the lease is in the range of tens of millions, and the developmental work has mostly been done by Incat, the civillian builder of these vessels. These vessels, AFAIK, are the same as the commercial versions apart from strengthened vehicle decks, an added flight deck and vehicle ramp, and whatever electronics the US military wish to add(not likely to be too flashy, considering the ships' roles).

  • Hey isn't that a modified seacat ferry from australia? I was aboard at the launch? hope they ironed out the bugs with the seaturbines getting clogged in certain waters due to algal build up.

  • lol algal build up!

  • The new high Kw engines are flawless and these craft are in service form 71 meters to 110 meters now!

  • eh comment cuz i feel bad.
