  • Wow! You sure fooled me! I thought it was a keywound movement. When I saw on the title it is a westminster and whittington, I wondered why it had only 2 keywound holes instead of 3 because the ones with 2 usually are half hour strike with a gong or a bimbam chimes which has 2 notes like on a door bell incase you don't know what a bim bam chime is. I do have a quartz pendelum wall clock with those 2 chimes and they sound the same as this one.

  • @bprife Ha ha, yeah, you are right, its fake key-holes, I know, my grand fa's clock is a mechanical Regulator with a good brass pendulum, gosh, the sound can be heard on the street, lol, my parents house have the bim-bam, I know it has 2 key-holes, one for running and one for the bells, some times, it will have energy for running, but the him-bam bells will stop, so, while wounding back, need to check the bell sound, and need to adjust the lever to get the correct counts. :)

  • Hey, which model is this? I searched a lot but couldn't find this clock. Could you please tell me from where you got this clock from?

  • @whitelotusblacklotus : I really don't know the model number :p, I tried to find it, no number looks like a model number, this was purchased from : Times N Chimes, Express Avenue, Chennai, but when I visited Singapore & Tokyo, I found the same models in showrooms.

  • is it battery operated?

  • @bjkatmat : It is battery operated. The battery is a C type (or U11), which can last for a year. My clock's battery is 9 months old now, same performance so far. :)

  • One thing I don't get about the Seiko and far east chiming movements. Why can you only set them to be quiet till 5:45? Do Japanese people never sleep? I like the German approach better. Those you can typically set to be quiet 8 hours of your choice. But the Seiko sounds nice. Not imho the best but by far not the worst either. Can't decide between Hermle or the new triple or quad "Harmonic" movements to be the best sounding. But the Harmonic also has the useless 5:45 night silence :-p

  • @HifiCentret You are right, German clocks are always one step ahead of Japanese ones... :), OR, there may be other Seiko clocks which can do the same job, any 8 hours of the day we can make her silent ;)??..I like this clock, because my sleep time and wake up time are matching..
