your wrng you must do the multiplcation or divison or addition or subtraction from left to right not in any other way because you will get a different answer

in doing the div and multi backward you get the same answer.

from right to left:

7/2 = 3.5

3 * 3.5 = 10.5

2 * 10.5 = 21

which is the same as the 21 he came to doing it left to right.

I did not spell "know" wrong. I used the incorrect word out of a temporary habit. I have a thing for puns and had been playing a punning game on a message board so I just did it without thinking. But know is a homonym for no. Neither is misspelled, just the wrong word for that instance.

We cannot "now, woo, won, wok, knot, own, no, or wonk" if these are indeed misspelled variations of the word "know" or are correctly spelled words being misused, however, the error of misusing words is more egregious an error than misspelling words. That Vermonite was possibly doing you favour.

I was under the same impression, until I read up wikipedia! It says that Multiplication and Division have the same precedence in which case they should be applied left-to-right. So PEMDAS and PEDMAS are both right, so long as multiplication and division are applied left to right (mrforstermath also suggested the same). In case of your example, left to right works :)
