  • Hi , Am making this right now - its sitting in my oven and it smells amaaaaazing! I have made my share of Veggie Biriyanis and they always lack something - Nonveg :-). But this recipe has that extra something that makes it amaziiiiiing!!! Cant wait to start digging in. Thanks Anuja and Hetal. you guys rock.

  • @archanavasudevan Enjoy :)

  • hi hetal and anuja! can we use anything else instead of paneer

  • @mariacuto : You can either skip the paneer or use another vegetable instead.

  • your biryani was very dry when I tried it,instead we can add tomato puree to all veggie and it was moist n yet all rice grain was seperate.

  • nice receipe but veeeeeeeeeeery lengthy .I think 'manjula's kitchen' has very nice n simple receipe which you can make in few mnts. What I did was took tips from both receipe n in it turn out well.

  • Wowwwwwwwwwww.......... its amazing .. m gonna try it today n will post how i did ...Thanks so much Anuja nd Hetal!! your recipees are sooo good !! :)

  • asian food rocks

  • Hey Guys.....Try this biryani its really very tasty...in never live biryani specially veg once, but i loved it after using this receip....i only tried this one bcoz my hubby likes veg biryani....so try this out.....Thanks Hetal and Anuja..your recipe is wonderfull....

  • Hi girls. I like most of your recipes. But unfortunately dont like this one. I think you made it too complicated. Vegetable biryani is very easy to make and no need to be prepared in such a long way. Anyways, rest of recipes are wonderful and I can take hints. It always something new :)

  • I would like to thank you as is one of my favorites and you woman are making an excellent job by showing us the little details...

  • did biryani originiate in pakistan?

  • @takahashiwongwong Biryani was brought to the Indian subcontinent by the Persian invaders. It did not originate in India or Pakistan.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry ohh ok thank you :)

  • @ShowMeTheCurry thank youuuu im going to make it today (without the meat ) :P

  • @takahashiwongwong How could anything originate in Pakistan? It didn't exist before 1947.

  • @akhilsikri cause the best biryani comes form the sidh region of pakistan

  • guess hitals got too much attitude..:)

  • Instead of toasting and grinding your own biryani masala, can you just use store-bought garam masala?

  • @crabbypantalones : Yes, you can. There are some really good brands out there.

  • hey can you teach how to make different shacks(if u speak gujrati lol thts basicly curry) bc my mom needs diff ideas lol

  • @shivam220

Please check our website ShowMeTheCurry (dot) com under the Subzis/Vegetables tab for different ideas.

  • Hi hetal,anuja

can u plz teach me how to make veg rolls with the base and the filling cause my son like them a lot

  • @komaldolia

We have a video for Egg Rolls (vegetarian). Please check our youtube channel or our website: ShowMeTheCurry (dot) com.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry egg isnt a vegeterian thing for me...!! its comes from an animal ..soo veg roll..?

  • @komaldolia egg is sure not veg..!!

  • ur recipe and the way u presented is absoulutely wonderful i tried the recipe at home ,it came out fantastic...im gonna do it again....thank u very much....

  • Does the length of time that rice is cooked depend on the amount of rice (e.g. how long to cook 3 cups or 4 cups of rice)

  • @chewy1217 yes it depends on the amount of rice... the more the rice the longer it takes... i normally take out a rice grain and check if its soft.

  • thank you

  • Thank you for a wonderful recipe.

  • fabulous recipe...well presented!

  • I'm learning to cook these simple dishes. Actually, I'm cooking for a young broker in Ca. Its a good lesson for me because he's very particular witrh what he eats and how its prepared. Today, I'm soaking mung dal, than cooking with ginger and turmeric, with rice, Not sure what kind of veggies to make

  • I forgot to say Thanks for being so informative. I'm looking forward to more of your cooking tips.

  • This was the first time that I ever followed instructions to the letter for your biryani,Is this the traditional biryani of northern India or your own special recipe? I"ve been to India and most of the other Indian restaurants in the US, the Biryans are more of a thick soup consistancy. I enjoyed the challenge. I appreciate your web site.

  • This recipe has some traditional aspects to it as well as our own little touches. Usually, biryanis are pretty dry and not soup-like at all. Maybe you had "Bisi Bele Bhath"...a south-Indian rice and daal combination that is of the thick soup consistency.

  • can u change the vegetables around

  • The vegetables we used are pretty common biryani vegetables but you can definitely you your favorite ones. Try not to use ones that will leave a lot of juices like spinach, cabbage, etc.

  • please tell me the ration of rice to water!

  • 8 cups of water for 2 cups of rice.

For written recipes you can always refer to our website:

    ShowMeTheCurry(dot)com

    Hope that helps!

  • my god so much spices ! I m discouraged! lol

  • This recipe make a large quantity and it is a very flavorful dish, but if you still feel that it will be too spicy for you, reduce the amount of spices and you should be good.

If you are talking about the number of spices, like we said, it is a flavorful dish and every spice has a very distinct flovor and gives so much dept to this awesome dish.

Hope you will give it a shot, we are sure you will be happy with the results.

  • you can buy the spices already prepared in a box, I buy the box mix of this and it comes out great

  • Dear DrSwaran, you have to remember that these wonderful chefs are doing all of us a favor and helping us out...They get NOTHING out of doing this. Instead of THANKING THEM for their video, you are actually hung up on the technicalities of the video!!! Of course, NOBODY is forcing you to watch these videos!

  • also, because of the way that they present the video, not having proper greetings works for them. All chefs have their own style...Both of you chefs, PLEASE keep up with the great job and ignore ridiculous comments!!!!!!

  • @MsPeacelover123 xcuse me they re paid by you tube they rent mad to help us for free..people go and check out the you tube buisness section u cn earn on you-tube too..lol...

  • vegetarian briyani is the best!!!!! I love Indian food and am craving some. thanks for the video :)

  • This is so great! I first tasted Indian food when I started college, and now that I am living with my parents for the summer, I will make some of this for them...I'm sure they've never tasted this type of food before!

  • when u guys r making undhiyu a gujarati dish i dont see that in yr list how come hetal is gujarati so y she isnt she making it?

  • What did you do with the Yogurt?

  • You add it in with the vegetables. There is a part 2 to this video.

  • i must admit that you two are really commendable job.fantastic and keep it up!

i have tried at least four to five of your recipes and they were really fantastic..every one admired the dishes...i must thank you...here is a suggestion...please keep on giving more recipes as u r style of presenting the recipes is beautiful and systematic...keep it up and thanks again

  • buy a few microphones

  • Dear Anuja and Hetal,

Your recipe is wonderful! I cant wait to try it out :-D

you are inspiring naive people like me to cook. Thanks a lotttt!!

    Take Care and Best wishes,

  • I recently watched your demo & tried it at home & it came just great!! I altered it a little - instead of making the biriyani powder, I used Shan biriyani powder & the biriyani was a great hit! Thanks for a wonderful show & keep doing it just the way you both do it - Vijaya Rajkumar

  • Its interesting to watch how other great Indian chefs greet the audience..esp. Mrs. Manjula ...thos she is aged but she greets humbly before and after the video. But these new age chefs lack the cultural values. Talking about new age chef...watch for Mr. Sanjay in vah re vah..he too is amazing. I like your dishes but ur presentation skills dont match ur cooking skills. I hope u wont disappoint the viewers in future videos.

  • It's interesting that you didn't start your comment with a "Namaste". It's even more interesting that you judge our "cultural values" from a greeting in our video which promotes Indian culture through Indian food to a newer generation. In our own "humble" way, we are trying to preserve our Indian heritage by making Indian cooking more approaching for people like us who grew up away from India and hopefully passing on that passion to our children.

  • hmmm

  • thanks!

  • drswaran ur so damn technical, who cares about "proper greetings" Show me the curry: keep doing what ur doing: a Wonderful Job !

  • hmmm

  • I do not know what culture you are talking about but i really appreciate the ladies enlightening us about some really good Indian recipes. I am an Indian resident and believe me i know how to cook better pasta than Indian dishes. Really appreciate the effort these guys put in to demonstrate some of the best recipes that india has to offer the world, that too while staying abroad. Kudos to you guys!!

  • incase u didnt realise this video is about how to make veg biryani not about how to greet people.

  • my God! this Recipe gonna cost me $200 in the States.

  • Red chillies in biryani masala?????????????????
