OMG I LOVE THIS GUY ! He's doing something that i've wanted to do and see for years, but wasn't learned enough to do full out myself. I really hope schools one day will be completely replaced by more free education like this, and there will only be free public facilities where people can help you do lab work and such. Without them, a person like this could not be what we see here. What is radical and admirable is his willingness to use modern media to share his own knowledge so freely, to advocate public education. Sagan did the same thing with astrophysics.

I think many watching the amounts proposed by TARP, realized that you could bypass the existing system altogether. More importantly, have a source of debtor in possession financing for the many large bankruptcies.

So the solution was already at hand. Create a GSE to augment the flow of credit, and provide funding for financial bankruptcies. Simple. Wipe out the bad debt and not pay for it. Provide a means to allow the banks to continue operations while reorganizing in chapter 11.

His ability to visualize magnetic fields in induction of rotor currents, especially for three phase machines, is absolute genius. His inventions effect everyones life every day in our modern use of energy.

That is just a myopic standard for Genius. Genius comes in many facets, not just someone who was good at math, or inventions. The genius of an artist who uses a pastel to paint something beautiful can corralled the genius of Nikola. The succinct, cogent, and concise beauty in the way Sal can simplify complexity to a layman is a FORM of GENIUS. It may not be the same format/genius of Nikola or Bucky, but its still a form of Genius, nonetheless.

you make a good point, why isn't some one like Sal not elected president. We know he is charitable. Think about the amount of time he has dedicated on youtube, all for the sake of free knowledge. This shows legitimate concern and effort in wanting to better peoples lives. Another thing is he is obviously very brilliant, and has a way of communicating things to people in an effective manner. Theres nothing wrong with a contraction of the money supply and deflation. House prices were over bid in the bubble. The bubble caused by low interest rates millions created out of thin air, which forced the prices of houses, stocks, and every other asset to artificially high levels.

To let the prices readjust to more normal levels would of been painful in the shortrun, but its the only solution.

Printing money and lowering rates again only continues the problem and makes things worst

Using the 700 billion to start a new banking system would have been the SMART idea. We should have done that. Unfortunately, Congress and the White House are controlled by the banks. Biggest recipient of Goldman Sachs money in the Senate: Obama. We need to go back to the Colonial Banking system; money should be spent into existence rather than borrowed. Read "Web of Debt" by Ellen Brown.

The government isn't interested in trying new ideas and new systems. They know the Financial System (i.e. Federal Reserve System) is broken. Essentially what Sal and other market economists are saying, is that the MARKET should determine what happens to these companies. If it continues, then it will lead to DEFLATION... that is a GOOD thing for consumers in a CAPITALIST society. The problem is that our government doesn't want that society...they want to continue INFLATION via the FED.
