this car didnt impress me. I drove my friends who had it as a rental. it had really bad blind spots. the interior was cheap looking. the handling was average. i thought the tacoma handled better
I'm seriously considering this as my next car. Phew I have a long list of competitors, but this car looks great. It's either this or its look alike, decomissioned twin, the PT Cruiser. Hmm.
@xXBurntBaconXx There is no stage 2 kit. The turbo upgrade is part number 19212670. Only offers 290hp and 315ft/lbs. Only way to reach 330 at the crank is with boltons and actual tune. Unless bagjr387 is tuned for E85, hes not putting down 330fwhp. Most guys with a HHR SS 5 speed, with just stage one are putting down 255-270 at the wheels. The auto is alittle lower.
fuck this car was so bad. I just rented a brand new one and after the trip it felt like the wheels were going to come off. And it only had about 3000 miles on it! save your money band buy a KIA
I am mostly a Subaru, Nissan and Honda guy but I am converting into a Chevy Guy and the HHR SS is what the Doctor ordered. Wish they made a Yellow but the Red works. Instead of a FWD, why not make it into a 4WD Vehicle!!
4wd? sounds good but, Additional weigh, additional fuel comsuption, redisign of the central tunnel( less back space) would it worth the money?, nobody would do off road in this spectacular wagon, nobody would rally race on this, nobody would think of it as the typical rural conmuter. This is about fun drive, beach, sun, young spirit, speed and some cargo capabilites. Seems that 4wd doesnt fit well in the concept.
digipeeper: The Chevy HHR and Saturn Ion have the EXACT same defective power steering systems as the Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5, but GM is currently only recalling the Cobalt and G5.
The government won't order a recall of the Chevy HHR until a certain number of accidents happen and complaints are documented with NHTSA.
Before the recall, Cobalt and G5 owners were being charged $900 to $2,500 to have their power steering systems repaired.
Well thats GM for you and it will never change. If the selection of vehicles that you discribed has defect I wonder if the Camaro has it as well. As a American I would like to support the USA legacy but maybe it is not going to change until the US market tank and disappear forever!
im thinking of getting one of these for high school and college, for under 10, i want a panel edition though, put some subwoofers in it and put an x exhaust on it(which would look retarded) but who cares...WOOOOOOOTTTTT

You should stick with Subaru, Nissan, or Honda.

OH NOOO..
this car chevrolet HHR is not good design and not safely..
1 - NO 2 amber yellow lights on taillights for turning sign..
2 - gas in hole on the right side while a driver on the left side..
3 - no cool air go throught on the upper front grill radiator..
4 - poor design..
bestamerica 3 years ago
cars in America are not required to have amber turn signals on the rear.

It needs a small block to be an SS. The 4 cylinder just isn't right.

I agree. This and the Cobalt SS Sedan are the best sleepers ever made.
