Even if it is the case that he is not perfect, so what? Do you have to be a saint to be able to make a point? Would you be more comfortable if an actual saint would deliver the same warning? Unfortunately if a true saint would to the same, very few would listen. The point is that Gore takes advantage of being an high profile individual, to draw attention to one of the most important threats we face. Did he deserve the nobel peace price, or were there more deserving candidates? I could not care.

It is funny how some people seem to be against renewable energy. It reminds me of the fact that in many countries there was significant opposition to the introduction of the telephone. Why should you speak with your friends via telephone when you can ride on a horse for a few days to meet them.

There has also often been strong resistance to what scientists e.g. Galileo. The lesson of history is however, that the scientists are usually right, and the sceptics wrong.

Is it better to be at the mercy of fluctating petrolum prices and the good will of countries like Iran, Iraq, Venuzuela and Saudi Arabia? Do you trust them? If you don't like Gore personally ok. The ignorance I see in the comments amazes me. I guess this is so serious, people just don't want accept it. I remember after I watched Al's movie, I looked for something to debunk it- I found sun spots. Yea, that eased my conscience for awhile until another big chunk of the Artic ice shelf fell off. Then I realized as much as I didn't like it, unfortunately, global warming and peak oil are reality. Only option now is how to deal with it. I'm past the denial phase.

The fact is- we have to do something to eliminate fossil fuels, we have to do it boldly and we have to start NOW. Read the Hirsch report about Peak oil to learn of what we will face if we don't act now. This shouldn't be looked at as a political issue, but a human survival issue. We need to band together as citizens and make these changes happen. Political bickering will only further delay these changes we should have been making 20 years ago.

The technology exists for energy other than oil. Only it would crush the oil companies (ones in power). The ones that became the power elite over the decades due to oil don't want things to change and are fighting these new ideas. Some of these new renewable energies are readily available for the public to use. Think Solar, Wind, Water.
