Amazing! it's simply amazing! i listened to this song for the first time a couple days ago and just couldnt get it off my mind. i just had to listen to it again.
Wow this song is extremely impacting, The first time I heard this song some reason it really hit me, It Made me think how I feel in this season of my life. When I found out why she played this song and the reason it hit me even more, One year ago I Found out that my dad has cancer. and hes not doing to well. through this season it is hard to see the Joy, but I have Joy. just as Job lost everything and still loved God, so will I, Job never gave up and just knowing my Dad knows God gives me JOY
I heard her story told by her that she also played this in a church one night after hours, no one was there and God gave her the rest of the song (the very end). I feel this song is about a commitment to honor God even in the midst of sorrow, confusion and pain, much like Job. This is about a commitment to truth, a verbal AMEN, while letting our feelings catch up to what is true even when we don't yet feel it is. It's active faith that because God is omniscient, it will "be alright in the end".
Wow ! Different. Heard her story on her take of this song. her father just died of cancer she went to the music room in her home & realized joy is not just a feeling. It's something that God has truly given her.
I think this is like... though we face trials and tribulations, we have Joy in Christ... and sometimes it sucks.. but we always have a reason to be thankful/joyful because of Him. I feel like that is real joy... to love through the pain.
Up here in Canada , one of our finest songwriters Bruce Cockburn has a line or two in "Lovers in A Dangerous Time " that go: "Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight, Gottta kick at the darkness till it bleeds daylight"
God's Joy is one of those things and this song is one girl kicking!
Is this song supposed to be contradictory? Interesting reharmonization, kind of reminds me of the funeral march. Not sure if I like it though... kind of depressing.
@germpest From what our pastor said this was inspired when she received word of a friend who had an untimely death (believe it was an automobile accident). She went to her piano and played this song. It is possible to find JOY not happiness in any situation. While she was obviously grievous about the loss of a friend she has Joy because she knows God is sovereign. It is not contradictory it is inline with the Paul's message about Joy in Philippians. Hope that helps.
@germpest I can see that. However, the book of Philippians is a great book on Joy in hard times. I think we all just confuse Joy with happiness and major chords. I encourage you to check out "The Rebel's Guide to Joy" a sermon series by Pastor Mark Driscoll.
She is pretty attractive
