Can someone tell me if Mark Farina did sometlhing with this backtrack? I thought I heard a track from him with this hypnotic beat before but couldn't find it.
Good Themee!! The first time who i hear this song was in 1997 in a recopilatory called HARRY THE BASTARD, triple vinyl, with a lovely deep house selection unmixed
@throbule Yes it is. Remixed by Global Communication in '97 if I remember correctly. Though it has almost nothing to do with the original. I think both the original as well as the remix are fantastic!
No offence but this is NOT 'Jazz Carniva'l by Azymuth - the real thing was a slamming piece of real music played by masters, where as this is just a monotonous dirge by comparison.
All the original melodies that made the original a slammer are not even in there.
I know the original very well. It's one of my favourite tracks. I like the abstract approach Global Communication took for the remix. It's a decision and fits their style.
Either you are deaf, stupid or Polish, but you need a lesson in music.
A remix always has the original tune, or part of it in the mix - this has nothing of it at all, and it is not Azymuth, so it's just a rip off and a blatant lie.
How long have you known that your brain and your shit tunnel changed places?
Shutting your mouth when you don't know what (or who) you are talking to doesn't hurt that much either.
Try it sometime - you'll find that with your mouth, silence is golden!
@throbule "A remix always has the original tune, or part of it in the mix" im glad youve learnt something ;) so how *big* the used part of original tune have to be in your opinion ?
(i can see youre frustrated enough with what (or who) you are so ill just skip the rest of your post. hope you get better soon!)
@throbule looks like my comments arent boring enough to make you fall asleep as you still find the energy to replay to them :) looking forward for another brilliant response from you ;)
It's irritating when a remix takes the original source and distills it down to a trite hook - really, just a shell of its "doner." It's happened with a few Azymuth remixes, but this isn't one of them. This is a really deep track that stands on its own and makes me glad that Azymuth is engaged with the house scene, since it's the best source of fertile ears for the Brazilian sound. If it wasn't for house DJs I would have never known Azymuth's great work, so it goes both ways.
Had this track NOT been labelled AZYMUTH -Jazz Carnival, then every likelihood it would be appreciated fully on its own merits even as a tribute to Azymuth. At least it would not detract and the spirit or essence of Azymuth would be seen to be captured in some way or other. At the end of the day it is upto Azymuth themselves to give the nod of approval, so we dont matter a jot!
This track is on Danny Howell's new mix. I thought it was a new track bc it wasnt coming up in my searches at first. Then I find out its from 1998. Wowzers.

BORING MONOTONOUS CRAP, the original is nothing like this and far superior, soul and r&b has really deteriorated over the last 15 to 20 years with all the warbling voices like beyonce the fur hag uncaring low life selfish bitch, check out the original jazz funk version that blows your mind, this sounds like it was done by an idiot in his bedroom with no vision 0/10
One of the highest compliments in music is replication. Music is about growing and expanding. This song is not meant to go against or ruin the original, it is simply a tribute to the original. open your mind.
You confuse the issue here, first of all this is not a song, and of course replication can be a well meaning and complimentary gesture. If this is a replication for todays age it will totally bypass an old original late 70's/early 80's jazz all-dayer dance afficionoda like myself. Like what I said you had to be of that era to understand what the original meant to freestyle dancers from that era and of that clique.
Good one. Though I enjoy both this track and the original song, the original i so far ahead in "gets you dancing" terms that it's not even necessary to mention it. I just wish I could go back to those days and experience azymuth and the whole era when it was alive and kicking.. I enjoy house as well though, along with other electronica, rap, funk, and variating subgenres of the same, so I also enjoy this "version" of it. I don't see any clear connections with the original though...
beautiful deep remix by global communications

Seems like Unnecessarily Verbose Commenter below fails to hear parts of the original melody in the background.
We can't all be born with ears, sadly.

Take a look to K. Wild's Phunkarnaval , based on some samples taken from Azymuth masterpiece.

The only thing they share is the same title.
Check the original and tell me I'm wrong.

When your mother and father 're-mixed' you at conception, did they forget to include the brain?
You sound like an old scratched and broken record that no one wants to hear.
You are so boring, that when I see your comments, I fall asleep half way through reading your name.
You are over - I am out.

As is usually the case, the remix can't compete with the original.

The is no compliment - it is RIP-lication of a track title, nothing more than that.
Compared to the Azymuth tune, this has nothing at all to recommend it.
Different key, different bassline, different timing - no growth, just another, not very good tune.
