I have a tj and want to use it for offroading of this sort (I've already done some Mudding and it performed pretty well stock) what mods do u recommend?
@TheConnoe Hey, thanks for the comment. The mods I would recomend are pretty simple, a bit of a lift kit, and some larger tires, that will help a lot. My YJ has a 4" lift with 33" mud terrain tires, and its quite the beast, haha. Its good with TJ's and YJ's becasue there are a TON of aftermarket parts for them, so they are not to difficult to modify, hope this helps a little.
It looks like the ZJ is running street tires (I consider A/T tires as street tires as well). He would have done A LOT better with offroad tires....or goodyear A/T are good if you don't feel like switching tires everytime you offroad.... I have those and I have NO trouble in thick mud in my ZJ....then again those in the vid looked worn out
@JeePolaris That sucks. I planning on buying some cheapo steelies at a junkyard and throwing on my offroad tires so i can store them for whenever I feel like going out. I'll keep my fuel economy tires on my rims for quiet and smooth street driving. I would practically extend my tire life an extra 5-10 years since i'm only offroading on my free time (which isn't much at all).
@JeepPolaris No mods on it YET, I'm working to get there, but I'm paying college tuition first, then for a bit of a lift and some diff lockers, nothing to fancy, but I would love some lockers! I've had a few times when I could have seriously used them! But so far I've it's just a stock, with the straight 6 engine, and I've put on 2 500 watt flood lights on the front bumper and 2 1000 watt beams on the windscreen. I'm gonna get her there though :)
@Mik3Johnson Thanks a lot man, I really apreciate it, it was indeed a great time. And you have a YJ as well, thats awesome, does it have any modifications on it?
@JeePolaris Why would you do this to a ZJ ? Zj's are meant for soccer moms going to the mall, you should have bought an XJ... much cheaper to lift and much better off road(breakover angle, approach/departure angles, etc.). Lol I kid on soccer mom part, they are nice DD's but XJ>ZJ when the going gets tough
@98MAzdaMilleniaS Hi there, the ZJ you see in the video is my brothers, and evidentley it is his family car, but it happens to do pretty well off road as well, lol. He is currentley saving for a Jeep for off road only, either an XJ or a YJ, something along those lines ;) Thanks for the comment.
this was a fun time...my first time out at my buddys farm with the ZJ so i was a bit slow at the shit and got stuck at some stupid shit...but now i no...so its time to go beat the shit out of the ZJ next time...
Nice ZJ.
I got a 97 ZJ. It works great in the mud. Putting in a 2 inch space Litf soon with some 31 inch mud tires. I plan to put some video like this up
And nice video

@Mik3Johnson Right on, that sounds pretty wicked, with lockers it would be almost unstopable!

how much of a lift does the ZJ have? 2'' BB? Also is the ZJ in 4LO?
wrx4ever 5 months ago
@wrx4ever Hey there, the ZJ is running a 2" spacer lift on 31" tires, and he was not in 4LO :)
JeePolaris 5 months ago
@JeePolaris like the vid. are you still running the stock d35 rear with those tires? cause my yj has the same setup too.
09adge13 4 months ago
@09adge13 Thanks a lot, and yep, Im pretty sure its on the stock axle in the rear, and Ive had no issues with it yet. I like the set up a lot.
