  • does anyone remember the gray screen that used to pop up with the white text? when something happened the white text scrolled across the screen telling u to turn to a certain channel to see it. i cant seem to find any videos of it anywhere. it might have just been my area but it was on SusCom cable.

  • That's a long list of names in the threatened area.

  • this is my birthday day may 2 1998

  • The computerized voice gives more fright to the situation.

  • @Niami777 inmagine you are watching tv in your bed at night alone and this comes up ( it is much more louder than tv program)

  • 3333333

  • @aleigen

    ????????

  • sorry, i thought it was am but is pm

  • did u stay up this time, watching tv? and this happen? wierd!

  • What do you mean by staying up?

  • I remember this storm. I live in Lake Oswego part time and I was tracking the storm for a while. I saw one bolt of lightning then the hail started. The hail was falling so hard I couldn't see a foot in front of me. Right as the worst of the storm was passing over a large tree fell on my shed. I had to pick someone up so I got in the car, followed the storm and saw a rotating wall cloud. I followed it, it disappeared after about 10 minutes, then the EAS came on the radio.

  • I saw your new video. Man that thunder was intense. I was just finishing up SAT testing when there was thunder. I thought there was gonna be an EAS alert, but there wasn't.

I also think I have all 4 or 5 EAS interuptions as well as thunderstorm footage from the June storm saved somewhere on a Mini DV tape. I'll have to find it though

  • If you live in Portland...

Did you get interupted as many times as I did on Friday, June 6th?

  • Yes, infact that was Thursday, June 4. Today is the 7th.

I saw all of the warnings, but I was too busy to catch the EAS alerts. I was tracking that line of storms on radar, as it went from Eugene all the way to Portland.

  • I live in Hillsboro (Washington County) by the way. There were about 4 or 5 EAS cut-ins on my Comcast.

  • @supercell1995 I've had 10 EAS cut in's on Comcast before. ( western Washington ) due to heavy winds and thunder storms...This was about 10 years ago.

  • We get this same EAS Bulletin format where I live, but I only see it when Tornado Warnings are issued (weatherwise)

  • You know the FUNNY THING was that those of us in Tigard never got this warning!!!

I checked all the news channels when the storm started- nada. Not even a warning on the weather stations for channel 8 or northwest weather!!!

  • Thats why I use WeatherScan or the Weather Channel, they have warnings feeding directly from the NWS. I did hear many channels and websites were late on it. It happens!

  • That's odd. I live in Tigard and I got interupted 4 times.

  • Yeah over here in North Texas we had the Cowboys Training Facility collapse and at our house we had baseball hail.

  • I heard about that, was that from straight line winds or a tornado?

  • actually by a microburst

  • Based on that youtube video, it did seem like a microburst. I heard constant wind, unlike any wind gust. They are the most damaging.

  • The wind was from the rain shaft of the storm, the pressure from the precipitation created the wind.

  • i had the very worst

  • Looks like you got more warning than I did. All I got was a boatload of lightning, which prompted me to go outside to witness some WICKED wind, flat but inch-wide hail, small tree branches blowing all over the place, even MORE lightning and thunder, sheets of rain (monsoon-like) and was worried that it was almost tornado time! Wish I had my video camera ready for it.

  • You saw it too

  • Chris, did you happen to get any of the damaging winds and hail? I heard a large tree was downed at the Hillsdale area, resulting in one fatality. Squall lines such as this are rare indeed.

  • Surprisingly no. There was 25 or 30 mph winds in the area as well with pouring rain. It occurs every 20 minutes.
