The design seems alright. I only have a qualm with not being able to find the "send a personal message" button on anyone's channel site anymore. Beyond that, it's alright I guess. But just like how the changes occur on Facebook as well, things will just "blend together" all over again so that things feel "natural" to one and all.
Thought this video was going to be about the new design, thought that this guy would have shown what it looks like. But no, all this video was about is this guy complaining about other people complaining about the new layout.
The design is...fancy.But the problem is it's also a pretty stiff design.It doesn't allow enough customization for the average youtuber.It's all very uniformed and actually puts me off when I'm visiting others' channels. And on top of that, it doesn't really have any new functions that the old design doesn't have.The internet and it's users' expectations have changed drastically as the internet has grown,so I think the problem is that people can sense that the new design is not all it should be.

I have been using youtube since 2006 and don't get why it really matters if they change the design, in the end it is about the videos (the content), the interface still works so why deos it matter. I still use the search bar for most things anyway. and yes I watched your video to the end (your not alone) and agree that it deos not really matter

the old one had better features. that's simply it. It doesn't matter how much they change the UI, we can get used to that... but eliminating important features like being able to watch videos while browsing the user's content is beyond idiotic.
I HATE the new channel design. I like to have my little bit of individuality in putting together my site. They have taken that away and told me how its going to be with a few set layouts that are really poor. Lets see how they respond the the outcry, and see if they really care. If they don't, lets hope it burns their fingers badly. All site have there day....the challage is now on for a new player in the market where individuality counts and the views of the user matters. Been 3 months. Still havent gotten used to it. Its not a "look" change thats the issue, it functionality. Why would I want to scroll thru all of my subscriptions in one long list and have to mentally keep track of which ones Ive seen?
I haven't even much seen any of my subs since they changed that.
The background is also a degrade. The prior change was just a change in how it looked. This makes no sense. I now have to click 2+ times to get to things I use. They added nothing for the exchange.
For example the country is now listed as it's code. I have to look up that IE is the republic of ireland. Of course this is after I click 'more' just to see it.
And if everyone IS fine with the current layout, then why are they changing it?
And from this video, it sounds like you'll be the one crying over just change when they decide to remove the comments.
Unlike the other design change that some people adopted, No one is adopting this one. That says a lot.

Whereas I've only been on YouTube for 5 to 6 months, as such I haven't experienced the constant change your referencing, this change is SOOO radical as to negate a goodly part of the functionality of the site sufficient to severely curtail my usage. Alright he did make a few valid points about how we always complain about the new design and will eventually get use to it. However , the new design is not bad, but the biggest issue is our its layout ( cant see comments ) and cant change or customize any boarder colors and wrapper colors. Maybe if you tube add an enhanced customize tool for us to change the colors and stuff and move modules around , the new design will be ok. But so far the new design is ugly.

Dude, I hear you, but come on. This is the first real site change I have seen in over 5 years. Yeah, I have seen lots of changes, but nothing ever like this. This change removes almost all creativity and flexibility on our channels, removes access to see people's subscribers, subscriptions and comments; removes Friends and turns them into hidden Contacts with access to only 3,000 (I had almost 40,000). Removing these things is about YouTube no longer wishing to be a Social Networking site.
Back in the day I used to see your vids all the time on the front page among other places. A lot of other tubers I used to watch too. Only reason I found you now was coz I searched 'new design' to see what people were saying bout it. You and a lot of other bloggers are the real losers from the changes over the years. Not whinging, just saying. I really couldn't give a fuck about this corporate shithole anymore.

SO yeah I agree on the part that we always go crazy on these changes(I do all the time, but even on the day it happens I know it's not cool to make ranting comments on other videos, that's just sad), but I'm still not happy with this cuz there's a difference between accepting and liking something like say with gas prices. No matter how high they get you'll get used to it and then there'll be the new raise... or something. :)

I can't believe people still complain about the YouTube layout. I haven't liked the layout since 2008. The new layouts are becoming less and less unique. Everything's grey now. Exactly how they wanted it.
All I want is to be able to sort my subscriptions so that they are grouped by creator and to be able to separate subscriptions from recommendations. Change is perfectly fine as long as they don't remove features.
I really never understood all of the fuss about the layout changes. Just a bunch of hopeless and brainless nerds on a boring routine, and if anything changes in their routine, HOLY SHIT! Blunt when I add a vid to an existing favorites folder using the drop down menu the list of folders is not in alphabetical order but rather have the latest vids viewed first. Is there a way to have the folders listed alphabetically when adding to my favorites? Also the drop down does not show the full name of the folder if they are over a certain number of characters. i like the last design better because it was better laid out i dont 4 seperate tags about the same video that the same person uploaded. i dont care if they added it to playlist commented on it and added it as a respone i only care that the video was uploaded. i have missed videos uploaded by subscriptions because most of my homepage is taken up by 1 or 2 videos that for some reason they new layout feels the need to give me 4 different reminders that a vid has been uploaded
Think of the new changes like this: if you had been one of my favorites, and I had subscribed to you, you would no longer be. I no longer watch my former subscribees because they are too hard to find. There is no disrespect too great to heap upon the idiots who wrought this change. It improves NOTHING; it hurts EVERYTHING.

The new youtube player is alot buggier from me though. Most of the time it takes awhile for the thing to show back up again when I switch to fullscreen, or the line that states it's duration suddenly signed up for cloning experiments. That's probably just me.

I like this design better than the last one, this is more streamlined and the one problem I did have with it, not being able to see your subscriber list, has been fixed so that now you can. Even then, that wasn't bad design, that was more that they just forgot to put it there.

to get the old youtube back It's super-easy: If you are on new style, look at the top right of your front page. It says: Edit channel. Click that. Then top left, it says: Switch back to old style. Click that and you're done. put it out to all the friends on youtube

I HATE the new channel design. I like to have my little bit of individuality in putting together my site. They have taken that away and told me how its going to be with a few set layouts that are really poor. Lets see how they respond the the outcry, and see if they really care. Been 3 months. Still havent gotten used to it. Its not a "look" change thats the issue, it functionality. Why would I want to scroll thru all of my subscriptions in one long list and have to mentally keep track of which ones Ive seen?
I haven't even much seen any of my subs since they changed that.
The background is also a degrade. The prior change was just a change in how it looked. This makes no sense. I now have to click 2+ times to get to things I use. They added nothing for the exchange.

Alright he did make a few valid points about how we always complain about the new design and will eventually get use to it. However , the new design is not bad, but the biggest issue is our its layout ( cant see comments ) and cant change or customize any boarder colors and wrapper colors. Maybe if you tube add an enhanced customize tool for us to change the colors and stuff and move modules around , the new design will be ok. But so far the new design is ugly.

Dude, I hear you, but come on. This is the first real site change I have seen in over 5 years. Yeah, I have seen lots of changes, but nothing ever like this. This change removes almost all creativity and flexibility on our channels, removes access to see people's subscribers, subscriptions and comments; removes Friends and turns them into hidden Contacts with access to only 3,000 (I had almost 40,000). Removing these things is about YouTube no longer wishing to be a Social Networking site.

Blunt when I add a vid to an existing favorites folder using the drop down menu the list of folders is not in alphabetical order but rather have the latest vids viewed first. Is there a way to have the folders listed alphabetically when adding to my favorites? Also the drop down does not show the full name of the folder if they are over a certain number of characters. i like the last design better because it was better laid out i dont 4 seperate tags about the same video that the same person uploaded. i dont care if they added it to playlist commented on it and added it as a respone i only care that the video was uploaded. i have missed videos uploaded by subscriptions because most of my homepage is taken up by 1 or 2 videos that for some reason they new layout feels the need to give me 4 different reminders that a vid has been uploaded

The new youtube player is alot buggier from me though. Most of the time it takes awhile for the thing to show back up again when I switch to fullscreen, or the line that states it's duration suddenly signed up for cloning experiments. That's probably just me.

I like this design better than the last one, this is more streamlined and the one problem I did have with it, not being able to see your subscriber list, has been fixed so that now you can. Even then, that wasn't bad design, that was more that they just forgot to put it there.

Are you for real. Most people's pages you cannot even find their favorites anymore. If you look careful at the changes you tube has made over the last few years. They have spent a lot of time unhooking peoples' control and manipulating it. You tube turned the last prez elect. on its head. why are the dates gone, how about ratings or the video tag lists? They want to control all of it think about it.. IT IS NOT PAGE DESIGN IT IS CROWD CONTROL!

Click on your stinking name to find your favorites, click show more to see the tags, and are you asian? The date and ratings are below the video. How about you stop whining and actually learn how to use Youtube right? It's not learning rocket science.

to get the old youtube back It's super-easy: If you are on new style, look at the top right of your front page. It says: Edit channel. Click that. Then top left, it says: Switch back to old style. Click that and you're done. put it out to all the friends on youtube

I think the new design is crappy. However, I almost wouldn't care at all if they would at least bring friending back. It's one of the main reasons I'm here.

I agree wholeheartedly with the bitching being old and annoying. "If it's not broken don't fix it" mentality would do nothing but impede any technological advancements.
I will say though, although as amusing as your videos already are when you rant (sorry, i love your videos, but your rants are great to watch) the only thing that made it so much better was me turning on CC Audio Transcribe and reading "you condom because we wanted to touch and his aides!"
