Yes in the manga it said that he killed BJ, the manga and anime is different kinda like FMA(FullMetal Alchemist) tho that hardly followed the story from the beginning, I mean it had the same kind of story of the manga but it was done in a really different way unlike the Soul eater one.

Since that one actually show pretty much the exact same thing untill later on.

Something that sucks because from there on the anime became kind of lame, especially the last episode(WARNING DON'T EVER WATCH IT!)
