Whats up buddy! Had something interesting happen the other day, I was on SC, doing a kill em all, but messing around, and you know where you go to deactivate the security door, theres two hunters waiting as soon as you get up the hill...well i took a hog (im sure you know you can squeeze it through), and i ran one of the hunters over, and was chasing the other one, when he just became non-responsive. I got out of the hog, walked completely roundhimand yet he just stood there, not doin nothing..
@BadCyborgMovies LOL yea you go squeeze your hog to the interior..lol....Im not sure what caused it, its also happened to Slynki once, and i could only get it to happen once, run over one of the hunters, then try to "trap" the other by the crates that have the overshields behind them...he'll stop attacking/dodging and just stand there....did you get the anniversary edition? If so how is it?
It's acting as if he were still inside the shade! Nice vid! Very interesting! Creating a weapons stash just before the loading point on the first level of this game took me about a half hour to complete to easily beat legendary! I even took a picture of the stash :P
@RhaTakodee Thanks. First level of the game? So, you mean POA? Or did you mean to say *this* level, AOTCR? Maybe you meant the loading point seen in the vid? If you did, what was in your weapons stash?
@RhaTakodee Ok so you did mean POA. I like to charge straight up the stairs with plasma weapons to blitz the covies there, as seen in BCM22. Maybe if you try that (preferably with an overshield), you won't feel the need for a stash any more?
@BadCyborgMovies sounds great! - except that the overshield does not EVEN last that long on Legendary for me xD And this was actually the first time I've done the stash :P
@danusmc78 It might work best for a speed run in which you're bypassing enemies, but I was talking about when you want to speedily kill the lot. In that case I doubt you'd want to lose your shield by doing a grenade jump from halfway up the stairs. You'd be in a dangerously bad state for tackling the covies up top.
Nice find! I knew about the mechanic already thanks to a halo pc app "Cloner", but I never thought it would work with De-AI'd actors in campaign. That's a truly fantastic find! This means you can repeat this with any unit performing any action, including running, jumping, rolling, shooting, etc.
The fact that the needles' direction is governed by the shade is the most interesting though. That surprised me, and was entirely new to me. Fantastic find, again! :D
@Matortheeternal Thanks. The way the Shade affects the needles was the most interesting thing to me too. Originally I hadn't noticed it. In the HBO forum where I posted an ad, uberfoop went off and soon managed to get a Marine crazy-firing a chain-gun in Silent Cartographer. When the Marine is ejected, he crazy-fires his AR in a direction affected by where the chain-gun is pointing, like with the Shade. Repeated it myself with Stacker.
@BadCyborgMovies Yes, it's interesting. Once an actor is deloaded the relationships they have with other actors and objects (such as vehicles) are frozen. If this wasn't the case the actor would not be able to control what they are associated with when they are reloaded later. You can think of it as an invisible virtual chain connecting where the grunt aims with where the shade aims. This invisible connection is frozen, and thus unbreakable, after you deload the grunt's AI.
@SlidingGhost Marines are potentially able to target him when he's crazy-firing. It may depend on how you do things, but I've just seen Johnson put a sniper round though the Grunt's skull. Starting from the checkpoint I got at 3:20, I went back, triggered the crashed Pelican area, picked up the 3 Marines on the tank and (eventually) drove over the loading point with them to get the Grunt crazy-firing.
@Sazer333 My article mentions about getting multiple Grunts crazy-firing, and there's a pic. I plan to do a movie on that theme; it'll make good footage. As for vids on other Halo games, it's not so much the expense as the time, and I've already got my hands full with H1. *Maybe* I'll branch out sometime, but that's all I can say for now.
This video is great! Lots of planning and towards the end watching the grunt shoot all over the place was pretty funny also. Congrats for finding this out!
@SlidingGhost 1) You can blast him out on any difficulty, but on lower difficulties expect less margin of error as he's so weak. However, you can always push the Shade over with the Banshee instead. 2) Getting him to amusingly needle some pals was already on my menu for exploration and filming. Expect more movies on this business!
You need Weird Al's "Trigger Happy" playing int he background now. Great job!! By the way, the needler is scary... Infinite ammo! If only it were like Halo 2 where AI never had to reload (I believe that is the case, anyway?)
@OrangeSodaKing I don't know the track, but as you may know, I'm not one for adding music anyway. Glad you like the vid though, thanks. I can't remember what the H2 needler was like, other than being a deplorable travesty of the glorious original. Didn't play that game for long.
@Ranx3roX When working on the stuff shown in BCM31 and 32 (making that Grunt run back through the level), I was experimenting with different Shade positions. One time I must've had it in the corner, and when I flew over the loading point he kept firing. So that's what put me onto it.
nice find. awesome ending.

@danusmc78 Strange. I'll have to give it a go next time I'm on SC; but yes I know about squeezing a hog through to the interior.

@danusmc78 Yes I got CEA. I'll probably talk about it in an article sometime soonish - so you'll have to hang on for that.

@BadCyborgMovies Will def hang on, please send me the link when you publish, thanks!

@BadCyborgMovies POA. Just before the stairs scene. I had about 6 PR and prolly 10 PP.

@BadCyborgMovies I like throwing a frag over the first stairs and jumping from there...just my preference, I find it works best...=)

@BadCyborgMovies Ahh thats what I meant, for a kill em all run I would definitely NOT recommend this method, at least not on Legendary!

Lol, who could possibly dislike that?

What if you get more shade turrets there? God damn someone needs to buy this guy a capture card so we can get Reach/Anniversary movies!
