we've not sexed this one yet but given that it's growing really fast it's likely to be a male. Brilliant temperament and feeds well. all round nice spider :)
I'm a beginner tarantula trainer, in other words I have never owned one, but I do plan on buying a mexican red rump. So what soil do you use? From what I researched the red rump likes to burrow.
Red rumps are nice, makes a good first spider. The soil is standard compost with no chemicals added e.g. fertilisers etc. It needs to be kept slightly damp, not wet.
How about the potting soil from Home Depot? And I finally got my 3" B. Vagans, currently using peat moss soil, it smells thinking about replacing it. My Vagans has been acting somewhat strange, it's burrowing a lot, it's webbing it's tree shelter, is it getting ready to molt?
NICE THAT WAS SO AWSOME WORTH THE WAIT ; )

...and dont use soil from the garden as it may contain parasites that could harm the spider
