  • In addition to hosting "Your Number's Up", Nipsey Russell hosted a pilot for a revival of "Jackpot!" for Bob Stewart, but it didn't sell. Jamie Farr also hosted two unsold pilots, "Double Up for Reg Grundy, and "Oddball" for Mark Goodson. He did actually sub for Tom Kennedy for one episode of "Wordplay".

  • great show

  • Shadoe is a great announcer he has a nice voice :)

  • JoAnne still had it after all those years!! LOVE her...

  • Rose Marie is sitting in the wrong square. Rose was always top row in the center above Paul Lynde, and tho the left of Wally Cox.

  • It's nice to see after all those years, Shadoe never lost the growl.

  • The Spiegel catalog as one of the Secret Square prizes is the same catalog they frequently plugged on the Peter Marshall version of HS.

  • I loved ROse Marie. I was a little disappointed that she was in square 8 instead of her traditional square 2. Of course, the last time she occupied that square was June 4, 1987.

  • Nipsey Russell was a game show host...i never knew that..

  • He hosted a short-lived game show in 1985 called 'Your Number's Up'.

  • Yes, he hosted the short-lived "Your Number's Up".

  • Me neither.

  • Shadoe Stevens would make a good announcer on "The Price Is Right."

  • I can actually picture hearing Shadoe say "COME ON DOWN!"

  • I think they should've chosen him as announcer after Rod Roddy died.

  • Nothing against Rich Fields, but Shadoe would have been a fine choice for that spot indeed. Who knows, they might decide to try another nighttime version in the future.

  • @66hourenergy As far as I know right now, Rich Fields has recently left TPIR, so Shadoe Stevens could be a good fit to fill that chair. Besides, we can already hear him at the top of every episode of "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson", also on CBS.

  • Yeah, he did die already.

  • No Rod was alive when the show taped but had died by the time it actually aired.

  • Was he?

  • You know, when I saw that picture of Alex Trebek at the end of this video, I was kind of wondering what he was thinking about doing with those dice.

  • This was almost as good as the first!

  • Shadoe and Tom have more of a rapport on this game show themed week then when Shadoe first served as announcer of Hollywood Squares in 1998.

  • Yeah, what was with that? If I recall, Tom never acknowledged Shadoe like most other hosts do their announcers.

  • I am glad you posted this. As Hollywood Squares was not shown in my area.

  • I was there!

It was quite a day. It was taped two days after John Ritter's death and everyone was sort of shaken, but they still put on a great three shows. Betty White, Nipsey Russell, Monty Hall--LEGENDS INDEED!

  • Interesting. I'm sure it seemed somewhat weird to see this show and elements of The Price is Right permanently in the studio.

For that, I'm going to put up an episode (actually the only one I have) that is a remembrance of John Ritter.

  • Nice to see Ruta Lee after 30+ years away from game shows?

  • Only classic and REAL fans of game shows past and present would recall who Ruta Lee was/is.
