Wow...this...THIS is impressive...! I've heard of wrestlers who led double lives: people like Dusty, Ole and Paul Jones working as "pencils", even the Iron Sheik driving around the truck with the ring in it in the Mid-Atlantic...this is the first time I've heard of a wrestler who can and has produced live shows...! And of all people, Bruiser Brody...! Awesome...
@Mrwaykooljr Bruiser Brody was also known as "King Kong Brody" in certain places. Why or How I don't know, but he was. By the way, I doubt King Kong Bundy stole the name from him, it was probably just coincidence.
When he mentioned that he can't think of three other guys that actively wrestled then , that could produce a show, one of those 2 that COULD, even though he didn't mention was non other then Hulk Hogan, and I am not sure who the other won was I think Dusty Rhodes maybe.
@xhemexx Hogan? What are you retarded? Bruiser Brody is much more knowledgeable on the subject than you and if he didn't say Hogan then Hogan wouldn't have been able to do it.
Besides, anyone with half an active brain can tell Hogan couldn't run shit. Dusty couldn't run wcw when he was retired, let alone being able to do it whilst actively wrestling. Who else were you thinkin of? John Cena? Flair? You've got a gay boner for some laaaaaaaaaaame shit, dude.
Brody's opinion of the impact of cable on wrestling is suprising. National telecast of regional wrestling helped end the era when a wrestler could carry on feuds in several territories contemporaneously. That era appealed to promoters who wanted creative control over their show without having to be consistent with other promotions. This was the lifeblood for a journeyman like Brody. With national tv, however, you could hardly be a heel in Portland one week, a face in Memphis the next.
This is awsome!!!!!! You'd never think of the late Brody as a well spoken articulate individual. This clip was very informative. Didnt know he played pro FB either. The interviewer also talks about the the early troubles of AWA and UWF promotions struggling to get by. An early sign of McMahan and WWE taking over the sport and changing it. Great clip!!!!!!!
He's truly a intelligent smart guy. He really knows this wrestling business. I really know why colon had him killed. Brody was going to change wrestling in puerto rico.
Bullshit i think savage is a great wrest along with Windham. One flair match me shows me all flair match just like hogan is the shits but charisma unmatched just like fliars interviews. You cant honestly say that they made wrestling in the 80s without hogan and Mcmahon did with hogan and making wrestling mainstream world wide,God knows where were wrestling or rasslin would be or as bruiser just said wrestlers or no longer identified as blond and fat.
you have no idea about this guy--- Frank Goodish was a giant among giants- Intellectually he was unmatched, he, Ric Flair, Barry Windham, and Dusty made Wrestling in the 80s, NOT Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage! Bruiser made Mick Foley look like a puss!
PhillyGirl1 Most of those scars are from his infamous matches with Abdullah The Butcher. He was the man who created hardcore before it was called hardcore. It was a shame he was murdered & there was this huge cover up over it all
he was one of the best wrestler ever so bad invader #1 kill him only because he dont want lost againt mr.dangerous in back time in PR.....mr.dangerous is right now Kane of WWE.
is written that his killer (Invader 1) waited for him in the locker and told him that he needed to talk with him in the showers. He stabbed him and nobody saw nothing, at least that what they say...
Brody was taking a direct shot at Dusty Rhodes, being blond and fat. But maybe he should have taken a closer look at Dusty's background as an athlete.
Check the shirt he's wearing. I think that's the Capital Sports logo on there (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Ironic that's the promotion in Puerto Rico where he was murdered.......
What a pleasantly surprising interview. Good questions and straight shot answers from Brody. So interesting to see the intelligence side of a maniacal pro wrestling character like Bruiser...ESPECIALLY FOR BACK THEN.
Wow, this is pretty cool. I've never seen any "shoot" interview of him like this. I've only even seen him as the wild and crazy character his gimmick represented.
It just goes to show how talented he was,he sold a charecter who you never thought could be so well spoken.Behind the Charecter is a well educated man.
Frank was truly one of a kind. I actually grew up in Dallas in the 80's and used to spend my saturday nights at the Sportatrium with my uncle and my dad watching WCCW. Frank actually lived a few blocks away from my grandmother in Dallas so I was lucky enough to get to meet him before his life was fucking stolen.
Interesting...The interviewer references the demise of Bill Watts' UWF, which took place in February of 1988. Brody was murdered in July, so this was done pretty close to the end of his life.
Seemed like a truly intelligent, smart guy. Doesn't sound like he had an ego, like Macho, Steiner, Hogan, Warrior, list could go on. Wish he could have stayed around longer.
Amazing footage. I'm impressed beyond words. I have NEVER seen Bruiser Brody calm, smiling laughing and actually being interviewed outside his wrestling persona. This here is more Frank Donald Goodish. Great job posting this footage.
wow so he was q tough buisness man which i respect, rare interview tho, i personally love shoot interviews and currently watching kamala shoot which is a great watch.
Yes I agree. Brody was very smart about his business. Many didn't appreciate a wrestler not allowing them(promoters, office, etc) to get over on them. The more I listen to stories about Brody's muder by Invader 1, the more it's CLEAR it was more of a hit that other wrestlers were in on or al least knew about. Listen to Tony Atlas's interview on this site.
Oh I actually own a Kamala shoot. He gives up A LOT of info about the business.
he did seem very smart indeed, especially in this interview, i guess wrestlers can get so involved in their character that people think that is what they are like in real life but i think brody hid it very well what he was really like.
I like the fact that Brody took no shit from the promoters and demanded he be paid for his matches in full. The other guys just did whatever they were told and continued to be taken advantage of. It pisses me off that people fail to realize that Brody was actually simply not allowing himself to be trampled on. He was not a pushover by any means. The other wrestlers should have learned from him.
say what you will about this man, but people still talk about him todau and he never wrestled for the wwf and was primarily a indy worker and in my oppinion was a true legend
Thanks for posting man. Its Brody's rare shoot inteview you would never see in anything else for sure. He says "15 years in wrestling business", which means the shoot was done in 1988, when Brody was murdered in PR. I remember around 1986 his hair and beard were beginning to turn gray, as you see in this vides. I've never ever once seen Brody make a grin even for a moment. Damned Impressive !!! He accurately analyzes the quality of wrestling and the direction it was going in back then.
