replace vista with 7 you will have to clean install ok

That particular laptop used XP. With any change in OS, of course I would do a clean install. This just needed some system updates because it had been inactive for so many months.

Probably Vista compatible, it definitely didn't have Vista on it.

i have a HP pavilion dv6000 umm and i have a little black thingy on the bottom write of my screen its kind of the size of a quarter but a little bigger. will it go away or will it stay like that? at first it was bigger now it got smaller and there are some colorfull lines on the top. this kinda helped me. now im not guilty. my moms gonna kill me. you should see my dad when hes mad at me. thx

Zaranyzerak i have a problem, maybe you might know how to fix it. Well every now and again my laptop which is an acer 5630 shows a white screen. It would just pop up unsuspectedly and then i would have to physically reboot. While having a few webcam sessions it began doing that but i could still hear the other persons and they could still see me but i cant see them or do anything else on my computer. Even ctrl, alt and delete doesnt work, what shall i do?

Ridiculous laptops...

My sister got this new laptop a couple of months ago, and after a week or two a button came off.

There was no way of getting it back on there, so it had to be sent to the factory and they had to replace the whole keyboard and they sent it back.

How much work and expenses there are for one silly button.

If they'd just make it so it's possible to put it back on, would save a lot of trouble.

Thought I covered that in the video...we thought we would have to replace the whole laptop, but didn't realize until much later we could just replace the screen. So we bought a screen and fixed it. Before that, we didn't even bother looking since we knew we wouldn't have enough money for a whole new laptop at the time.

My HP Pavilion dv5000 flickers a lot and when the screen freezes, everything looks all pix elated. After awhile, it turns really bright, then into a lime or black color, with a few lines going down. its always frozen and i have to hold the left corner forward of the lcd to make it unfreeze alittle. I have a problem with my lap top - the screen keeps flickering really bad and every now and then the light goes off - but I can just to say see whats on the screen.

It didn't help that my step dad kicked the screen by accident when he was stepping over it.

Hard to say, a connector might have been loosened when it got kicked (notice the cable that plugs into the back of the screen in my video), or the screen itself might be damaged and have to be replaced. If it's still covered under warranty, I'd take it in and have someone look at it. If it's NOT under warranty, I'd just open it up and examine the connectors first, then if it STILL has the problem, track down a replacement screen (way cheaper than buying a new laptop or having a store do it).

Dude... That almost looked effortless. I've replaced TONS of laptop displays in my time. Apple displays are the WORST... we're talking 2 hours of surgery here. And the best part? One time I was replacing a Wallstreet Powerbook screen... and confident that everything was set, after attaching, taping, and screwing everything back into place.. the screen had a dead line down the middle.

I use to tell people that getting a new laptop is cheaper than getting a new screen. Did you get a good deal?

We got a pretty good deal - as I recall, the screen was about 160 bucks, versus the grand or so it would have cost to get an equivalent new laptop.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, all the way! Ricardo Montalban was just too awesome as the baddie. Plus it just had a great story, which I think held together a lot better than many of the sequels. Good balance between poignant character moments and edge of your seat action. Second favorite would be First Contact. Even though it took some liberties with established Star Trek continuity, it was just a rollicking ride of a film all the way through. And the Borg were actually SCARY again. :)

I would take apart my computer and just examine all the different parts, while looking them up in some magazines I had. It just kind of grew from there. Now whenever one of your computers needs to be fixed, I do it myself. I'm sure we've saved a ton of ,money over the years! One day I shall build by own SUPER SYSTEM! :D

Oh yeah! Completely forgot about that. It's still missing. I don't actually remember what happened...it just broke one day...somehow, and we weren't able to get it back on. One of the clip thingies that hold it on snapped, so it wouldn't stay on. So we MIGHT get a replacement keyboard at some point (I did a keyboard replacement on Cass's laptop, so I know how to do that too), or might just get a whole new laptop (it's starting to show its age).
