why not use both guns and energy weapons? I've done it and it's very effective because there are enemies that weakness is energy weapons like robots and later in the game there are alot of robots.

Tolhe, if you ever get the chance to get the perk Jury Rigging. It is the most helpful perk in the game. I also don't think you should be so set on guns. Say you were stuck in a position where you didn't have your equipment and are stuck without your guns. I think you should at least experiment with different playstyles.

@TheTolhe It is still a unique weapon and it is better then most guns. It really doesn't make a difference unless you get old world blues then you would be screwed because robots are only weak to energy weapons and those robots are really difficult. armor piercing rounds aren't even that good against them. Your best bet would be an Anti-Material Rifle or a Light Machine gun with armor piecing both are about 20 pounds though. You can get a perk to cut the weight in half anyways

Tolhe if you want miniguns go to black mountain all the supper mutants have them. Be warned there are also deathclaws in the are but lots of loot.
