I've been 5 times about to go for the sixth in two weeks!! When I was a kid I thought it was such a magical place because not many people knew about it or went! haha It's such a beautiful paradise, I still want it to remain small and special and not taken over by massive hotels and cheap holidays! I don't mean to sound selfish.

Going for the month of July to visit family. @Starlightevents, if you haven't been don't talk. Barbados has one of the lowest crime rates of the Caribbean islands and is one of the most inviting places I have been to. Aruba's crime rate, on the other hand has gone up. Against the rule of "not feeding the troll" you should be quiet about things you know nothing about. Not trying to hate on aruba by the way.

@starlightevents Liar!!!!! how can you say that you probably never been to Barbados, it is a gem of the caribbean,i was raise on the island at the age of 9 until 29, my son was born there. it is beautiful, peaceful tranquil place the people are lovely and fun,the music is enjoying, the food is tasteful and i love every inch of it LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Me and my fiance want to move there to spend the rest of our lives on Barbados. I would like to open a little cafe´ there. We already got friends living there - one was a female pupil of my fiance who moved to Barbados more than 30 years ago, the other one is a friend of mine, a native, who was member of the cyclist team of Barbados in the Olympics in Barcelona years ago.

Barbados is the best island in Caribbean ..PERIOD. The people there are very nice nd they are not money hungry like they are in S Thomas or Bahamas.

They are polite and are more than illing to help if you get lost. We rented car (Fiance and I) I git lost trying to find Bathsheba and I asked some people for directions. I offered them money for the trouble but they felt insulted. I thanked them and 5 min later I was at Bathsheba. Will visit again in May.

actually , "dorado" is dolphin fish, the slaves didnt live in chattel houses, they lived in even smaller huts, chattel houses were assembled that way so that they could be taken down and moved to a new location with little time or effort. its not really a good indication of income, i have seen bmw's parked outside of quite small wooden houses. sorry to sound like a smart ass
