I also think that Sven Kramer is sometimes arrogant in the Netherlands we know he is. Netherlands wins but also with baseball and soccer in America and more sports.
So to me it does not matter if they find him arrogant, he happens to be good
chad didn't start on ice until he was 25, sven has been on ice his whole life, put sven on inlines against chad, sven would have gotten his ass handed to him.
Seriously you guys. Shouldn't matter where the dude came from or who he is. The man is a dedicated racer and won many races and yes shamed other racers. He could be just another wasted human on you tube like you people trash talking everyone else's accomplishments. YOU PEAPLE ARE USELESS TOOLS!
So many stupid Dutch excuses, but not a single word of responsibility. No wonder Sven Kramer grew up to be a repulsive, nasty, ill-mannered manchild. He was surrounded by Dutch who lacked the courage to teach him otherwise.
he probably just called is soccer because the stupid Americans wouldn't understand it otherwise. point proven by the fact that while he was speaking about field hockey (the original kind of hockey and therefor correctly referred to as hockey) you thought he was talking about ice-hockey.
and you certainly don't obtain any credibility on an argument about the Netherlands when you are referring to it as Holland (Holland is not a country!)
Chad is shit compared to Kramer.. At the end of his career, Kramer will have won more important matches. The sport developes, Chad can't keep up and Kramer keeps diggin'it
@speedskate2010 because sven ended up lapping him, so chad was was still in the inside lane and sven came around and had to be in the inside lane, too.
@speedskate2010 Chad was so much slower than Sven, that Sven actually passed by him and skated a round ahead of him. Because they change lanes every round, they ended up in the same lane.
chad just skated bad lol look at his technique in 2006 olympics its completely different...im pretty sure he just came out of retirment or something in 2008 i dont remember for sure tho
people are alwase under the impression that inline skating and ice skating are the same. they're not, in fact the techniques couldnt be more different. inline focuses on powerful short bursts and ice relies on long smooth motions that help you glide. chad would never be good at this if he keeps using inline technique
You can really see how Chad Hedrick was an inline skater. His pushes were short. Prior to competing on ice, he spent most of his time using that double-push technique, which involves less extension of the legs when you push.
What's surprising is that nobody seemed to be able to correct this problem, and train him to modify his technique for ice.
Was Chad really humiliated? Sven is like 10 years younger. And hasn't Sven been Ice skating much longer then Chad. Chad didn't start ice skating until he was like 24 years old. And made huge strides in a very short period of time. In fact doesn't Chad have more Olympic medals then Sven? In a sport he has not been in as long. I don't see humiliation here. But maybe I'm bias because I'm American.
chad's pushes are to small he isnt get the most out of the push and following the pusy through down the straights and in the corners, if you look at krammar his legs fully extend.
Just because Ice speedskating is in the Olympics doesn't mean its superior to inline speedskating. If it wasn't for the influx of inline speedskaters into the sport, it would have the same stagnant techniques with the same lazy racers. Now at least its come up a notch but its still a sport with few numbers. That being said, lets see how many world championship gold medals this humiliator has at the end of his career.
@Sebzero01 OK, by your logic, lets put it to the test. Chad in one year not only won a world cup race, he set a world record and won the world championships. Since inline is easier to learn or so you say, lets see if Sven can compete with national caliber inline skaters..... Not likely.
@fastj1962 All this being said, Sven should be Humiliated that an Inline skater is even as close as Chad is to him in this race at Chads age and because of his background. I say Ice is easier because its less tiring, you can focus on technique...(by your logic of course)
On top of this, Long track Ice skating has like 2 people doing it world wide.... When Chad was winning his 50 Gold medals in the world Championships on inline skates he was also winning indoor competitions and road races all over the world. Do you think He hasn't come in minutes ahead of the worlds best many times? I bet he's wone races by huge gaps literally hundreds of times. Chads won races with thousands of skaters on the starting line. He took up ice merely because he wanted recognition..
OK, whoever posted this is an idiot. I have no problem with Chad getting beat. This kid is an awesome athlete, not taking anything away from him but to post the vid with a title like this is totally lame. Lets see at the end of this kids career if he will have the accomplishments that Chad has had. Chad came into this sport as an adult already out of his ice speedskating prime and topped the sport in just a year on the Ice. More to come....
In Holland, if we don't know a sport that well, we usually introduce the candidates for medals, by airing a short documentary before the event, so people know who and what they are watching and there is no need for such an introduction afterwards. So it was all a big misunderstanding that led to some funny television. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about
It's all a big miscommunication. The reporter had done her research. She had even been to Holland before the games to find out all about our speedskating culture. But American media report on the premise that all viewers are dumb, so they are used to having less known athletes introduce themselves. She should have told that to Kramer before putting him before the camera. Kramer as a foreign athlete did not know this American habit, so it is understandable he made the mistake.
@Woutah2dmaX No, the reporter had Kramer identify himself on camera immediately prior to her interview with him so that peoduction editors could easily identify him later on...
@coolrunnings414 OK, well whatever it was, it's not something we do on Dutch television, so it's still a cultural misunderstanding... as was the interpretation of Sven's "are you stupid?" reaction. I the States, it was conceived to be very rude and arrogant, while in the Netherlands, it was conceived to be a humerous remark. Our country is a lot smaller and the atlethes and reporters all know eachother, so a bit of jovial jabbing and joking is normal over here. The whole thing is just funny.
No its not coz a lot of Americans don't follow speed skating and that would include ppl that work for NBC.I don't see a Dutch TV or sports reporter knowing who Jeff Gordon is.
what has Jeff Gordon to do with the Winter games? There's no relation between the Netherlands and Nascar, but there is a relation between the US and the winter games. it doesnt matters if your country follows speed skating, our country doesnt follows things like skiing either (because we arent that good at it) but reporters wont ask a stupid question like that. Its basically like saying ''I cba to even watch your race or do some research on who you are so tell the viewers yourself''
Well,ABC Sports carried the Winter Gamese and knew more about Winter Sports than that idiot that works for NBC.I miss ABC's coverage of the games but NBC was willing to pay more millions, not make that billions.
And the US will get 37 today ( gold or silver for the hockey being played now ) so that 37 will be a new record total for any country in medals at any Winter Olympics.Congrats to Canada on their 13 gold medals after not getting any at the Montreal and Calgary games.
yes and the medals are symbols for speed, length, power etc etc, thats idea, but sometimes it goes a little bit weird as on the pursuits yesterday: Nls 3rd but the fastest time....
That's just because the Canadians and Americans got lucky. If it wasn't for his mistake during the 10K I'm more than certain they would've gotten gold.
Holland got their asses kicked way too many times in a sport they dominated thats also one of their country's top sports by American inline skaters way too many times over the last 6 years, its about time they did something....
@thjms Yeah, its tough realizing you are getting too old to do superhuman things. Easy to be reminded by a kid who skated his whole life as a star in his country. Too bad Sven met chad at age 33 when Chad had only been on the ice since age 26 7 years earlier. Sven is younger today than when chad got on the ice, you think Sven would get humiliated if he started racing on inlines? (a sport with much more world wide competitors)
@thjms Chad won the World Championships just a year after skating on the ice.(at age 27) I will bet all I own, Sven couldn't win a world Championship on inlines in 2 years from starting (I think he's 24)
@fastj1962 I agree Chad is a great skater. but do not diminice the acievements of Sven he has now won 4 consecutive europian alround titles and 4 consecutive world around titles. No other skater acieved to do that. So have some respect.
BTW We dutch also do well in swimming rowing an dressage. Get your facts straight cause only our wintermedal count is of we won around 75 winter olympic medals wich 1 snowboarding 3 figure skating and the rest in speedskating.
@rex88moser Dutch guy, I never said Sven wasn't a great skater. If you look at all my posts you will see I said I am a fan of speedskating no matter what country the athlete is from. Sven is doing well, he is young, One of your country's top sports is speedskating which I can't even imagine growing up and competing here in the USA. My main issue is the title of this video.
@rex88moser Sven could go unbeaten for a few more years still that wouldn't put him comparible to chad unless he could cross over to inline and have success after he is 26... One last thing, for someone so talented and gifted too bad he screwed himself out of a medal in the olympics with such a rookie mistake. You would think someone in a sport they dedicated their whole life to could actually get the rules correct and focus enough to not make such a stupid mistake......lol
@fastj1962 i know he made an mistake but that was also due to his coach which broke his concentration. he was braught in doubt and thought when in daubt thrust the coach (wrong). but he did prove that he was the fasted on the 5 and 10 k . At wc he proved to beaten people when sick. Lets not talk about chad's olympics.
@rex88moser Talk about humiliating.... they should show the video sven made the mistake in and call it"Sven humiliates himself with a beginner's mistake"
@fastj1962 the man owns the wr of the 5k and the 10k and has multiple european and worldtitles allround and per distance. Even a gold olympic medal! He had to make a descision in a split second and took the wrong lane so what? He's one of the best skaters ever so quit talking shit...
@matsruck 3 years and is undefeated in a sport where his country has more athletes involved in it than the whole rest of the world. Chad won 50 world championship Gold Medals before the age 26 and before he ever skataed on the ice in a sport with way more world wide participation as far as athletes involved...
@fastj1962 I allways wonder howmany more athletes are doped Armstrong jones, gaithlin, montgommery, lewis, hunter etcetera. In america manny athletes are prepared to do anything for a gold medal just like eastern germany and the russians in the eighties...
@fastj1962 Agreed, I remember Chad when he was younger, and even now, the guy is fucking insane. I mean he started the inline 'double push' back in like 1994 when he was still a kid, and he spots Sven like a decade in age.
and olivierbouman, I suggest that you check your history books.....it was actually Canadian soldiers who liberated Holland during WWII. We have an affinity in Canada for the Dutch and their politeness and openness....as for Sven, I've noticed a great deal of arrogance in all prominent athletes, regardless of nationality or culture.....this is purely a human trait.
LOL this music totally suits the butt-kicking on the ice. It's like they played the music during the race and Sven is skating it. As for the 'Are you stupid' interview, my Canadian perspective on this is that yes, he was arrogant, BUT the reporter was ignorant. She got what she deserved by obviously doing zero research into the sport she was covering and the athletes in it. Sven's arrogance, combined with the reporter's ignorance, made for a hilarious combination!!!
You want us to tell Sven Kramer why he's not as great as he seems? Us, as in , Dutch?
Then it's your fault, as an American citizen, that 1 million Iraqi's died, you're invading other countries for money and oil (or your word for oil, ''freedom''), that most of the world hate America for a mysterious reason only Americans do not know.
Fix your own first before you start talking about ''Dutch people'' or anything like that :)
jfrcks, neah, "rude" is not the best word to describe the Dutch, but for "arrogant" they can be safely used as the best example to describe the meaning of the word.
as a Dutch i can say we are aware of his sometimes, childish or better said rude behaviour. but i think the people close to him have to make him aware of that.
so please dont give us all Dutch the label: nasty and all that kind of shit;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If his parents and nation had had the moral courage to teach how to behave properly in public instead of the repulsive, nasty, sneering dutch manchild he has grown up to be, he would be considered quite hot and date material, I must admit.
So disappointing that no dutch has ever had the moral fortitude to stand up to him, look him in the eye, and tell him anything he does not want to hear.
Emiko415, America (which is 231,87 times as big as Holland) didn't have the mortal courage to teach you how to reply on videos properly on YouTube either, how can you blame an entire nation for one man's, apparently, childish behavior?
To those supposedly "frank" and "honest' dutch people in this workd who insist on sending me racist, hateful messages because apparently it is not ok to be honest about calling a nasty dutch child repulsive, I ask that you please, please stop.
A real champion does not act like a repulsive, nasty, ill-bred child the second things do not go his way.
He does have some hotness about him, but I despise men who are all politeness when things are easy, but who can't maintain their poise when things are difficult.
That is the true measure of a man and champion.
Is this the best you dutch have to show the world?
A 6-year-old Japanese child has more poise than this manchild.

We did but we have a record 34 medals with two more a good possiblity.Holland has way less.
HattieLovesCattie 2 years ago
Dude, Holland is tiny, but kicking ass in the international community and by the looks of it, at the Olympics. WHoot!
bas080 2 years ago 2
Holland got their asses kicked way too many times in a sport they dominated thats also one of their country's top sports by American inline skaters way too many times over the last 6 years, its about time they did something....
fastj1962 1 year ago
wow Kramer was really flying shame he went into the wrong lane getting him self disqualified. One of those "Doh" moments.

@GuardianMio
disqualified or not, he still kicks hedrick's but when it's about 1 on 1 distances ;)

Um... How old is this kid? Lets see how many races he has won at the end of his career. Compared to Chad, its gonna be almost none..
fastj1962 1 year ago
that kid has won 3 world titels and has been undefeated for up to 30 games or so.
at the end of his career i guess he wil be one of the greatest skaters ever.
don't forget how small our little country is, the greater is the achievement with soccer, skating, hockey, volleyball etc..
dennisvanh82 1 year ago 26
volleyball? lol sorry but you guys suck in that sport. even cuba's better (and bunches smaller, in fact).... stick to the skates.
lunarc2407 1 year ago
@lunarc2407 well, volleyball wasn't the best
example, but we won a few world cups yeah.
what about soccer and hockey? :)

Never seen Chad again on the 10k...
thjms 1 year ago
@thjms Yeah, its tough realizing you are getting too old to do superhuman things. Easy to be reminded by a kid who skated his whole life as a star in his country. Too bad Sven met chad at age 33 when Chad had only been on the ice since age 26 7 years earlier. Sven is younger today than when chad got on the ice, you think Sven would get humiliated if he started racing on inlines? (a sport with much more world wide competitors)
fastj1962 1 year ago
@thjms Chad won the World Championships just a year after skating on the ice.(at age 27) I will bet all I own, Sven couldn't win a world Championship on inlines in 2 years from starting (I think he's 24)
fastj1962 1 year ago
@fastj1962 I agree Chad is a great skater. but do not diminice the acievements of Sven he has now won 4 consecutive europian alround titles and 4 consecutive world around titles. No other skater acieved to do that. So have some respect.
BTW We dutch also do well in swimming rowing an dressage. Get your facts straight cause only our wintermedal count is of we won around 75 winter olympic medals wich 1 snowboarding 3 figure skating and the rest in speedskating.
rex88moser 1 year ago
@rex88moser Dutch guy, I never said Sven wasn't a great skater. If you look at all my posts you will see I said I am a fan of speedskating no matter what country the athlete is from. Sven is doing well, he is young, One of your country's top sports is speedskating which I can't even imagine growing up and competing here in the USA. My main issue is the title of this video.
fastj1962 1 year ago
@rex88moser Sven could go unbeaten for a few more years still that wouldn't put him comparible to chad unless he could cross over to inline and have success after he is 26... One last thing, for someone so talented and gifted too bad he screwed himself out of a medal in the olympics with such a rookie mistake. You would think someone in a sport they dedicated their whole life to could actually get the rules correct and focus enough to not make such a stupid mistake......lol
fastj1962 1 year ago
@fastj1962 i know he made an mistake but that was also due to his coach which broke his concentration. he was braught in doubt and thought when in daubt thrust the coach (wrong). but he did prove that he was the fasted on the 5 and 10 k . At wc he proved to beaten people when sick. Lets not talk about chad's olympics.
BTW i'm a girl
rex88moser 1 year ago
@rex88moser Talk about humiliating.... they should show the video sven made the mistake in and call it"Sven humiliates himself with a beginner's mistake"
fastj1962 1 year ago
@fastj1962 the man owns the wr of the 5k and the 10k and has multiple european and worldtitles allround and per distance. Even a gold olympic medal! He had to make a descision in a split second and took the wrong lane so what? He's one of the best skaters ever so quit talking shit...
1978utreg 8 months ago
He is been undefeated for over 3 years.
He only loses at the olimpics in vancouver by an mistake.
matsruck 1 year ago
@matsruck 3 years and is undefeated in a sport where his country has more athletes involved in it than the whole rest of the world. Chad won 50 world championship Gold Medals before the age 26 and before he ever skataed on the ice in a sport with way more world wide participation as far as athletes involved...
fastj1962 1 year ago
@fastj1962 I allways wonder howmany more athletes are doped Armstrong jones, gaithlin, montgommery, lewis, hunter etcetera. In america manny athletes are prepared to do anything for a gold medal just like eastern germany and the russians in the eighties...
1978utreg 8 months ago

7482jonathan 2 years ago 3
@7482jonathan
the dutch people like the canadians and will always be in our hearts.
honorlydutchie 2 months ago
LOL this music totally suits the butt-kicking on the ice. It's like they played the music during the race and Sven is skating it. As for the 'Are you stupid' interview, my Canadian perspective on this is that yes, he was arrogant, BUT the reporter was ignorant. She got what she deserved by obviously doing zero research into the sport she was covering and the athletes in it. Sven's arrogance, combined with the reporter's ignorance, made for a hilarious combination!!!

@ Emiko415
You want us to tell Sven Kramer why he's not as great as he seems? Us, as in , Dutch?
Then it's your fault, as an American citizen, that 1 million Iraqi's died, you're invading other countries for money and oil (or your word for oil, ''freedom''), that most of the world hate America for a mysterious reason only Americans do not know.
Fix your own first before you start talking about ''Dutch people'' or anything like that :)
Hydralic2 2 years ago 3
jfrcks, neah, "rude" is not the best word to describe the Dutch, but for "arrogant" they can be safely used as the best example to describe the meaning of the word.
zharkoo 2 years ago
as a Dutch i can say we are aware of his sometimes, childish or better said rude behaviour. but i think the people close to him have to make him aware of that.
so please dont give us all Dutch the label: nasty and all that kind of shit;)
thank you

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If his parents and nation had had the moral courage to teach how to behave properly in public instead of the repulsive, nasty, sneering dutch manchild he has grown up to be, he would be considered quite hot and date material, I must admit.
So disappointing that no dutch has ever had the moral fortitude to stand up to him, look him in the eye, and tell him anything he does not want to hear.
Sycophants.
Emiko415 2 years ago
Emiko415, America (which is 231,87 times as big as Holland) didn't have the mortal courage to teach you how to reply on videos properly on YouTube either, how can you blame an entire nation for one man's, apparently, childish behavior?
SpoinkyNL 2 years ago
To those supposedly "frank" and "honest' dutch people in this workd who insist on sending me racist, hateful messages because apparently it is not ok to be honest about calling a nasty dutch child repulsive, I ask that you please, please stop.
Thank you.
Emiko415 2 years ago
Someone needs to tell this "champion' that making stupid child faces in public is considered nasty, repulsive behavior.
Clearly nobody in Holland has ever had the courage to do so.
Emiko415 2 years ago
A real champion does not act like a repulsive, nasty, ill-bred child the second things do not go his way.
He does have some hotness about him, but I despise men who are all politeness when things are easy, but who can't maintain their poise when things are difficult.
That is the true measure of a man and champion.
Is this the best you dutch have to show the world?
A 6-year-old Japanese child has more poise than this manchild.
Emiko415 2 years ago
just wondering where he made those faces, this arguement got me curious =)
I'm taking its not in this vid.
