When I was in Lisboa, I went to Torre de Belem by tram. I was looking forward to have a ride in one of these wonderful old trams, but the line to the Torre was served by a modern one, which you can find in all other cities around the world. That was disappointing!

É isso aí que chamam de portugal? Eu nunca vi uma cidade da Europa ser tão suja e sem urbanização nenhuma. A cidade acabada , jogada ao descaso, bondes elétricos velhos e enferrujados. Ruas pinchadas. Blocos e varandas aos cacos. Nossa, vão me desculpar , mas portugal é o cú da europa mesmo. Nossa, olha só para esse chão das ruas, tudo sujo, as paredes das residências tudo caindo de mofo e os rebocos a desmanchar.

the city looks beautiful i would love to visit or live there one day... but how the hell do cars fit between the sidewalks and the trams? what the hell? i'm always amazed when I see clips of driving in foreign countries. Like in India where people are driving through stampedes of people and animals. I don't see any rhyme or reason to the streets and driving here. o.O looks dangerous

I was riding the 28 last weekend (and rode it some 25 years ago). The old Lisbon trams are so much fun.

As someone else mentioned, if you travel on public transport in Lisbon, keep your hands on your wallet and camera. It isn't THAT bad, but just take precautions, as the 28 and the metro do attract pickpockets.

There are two areas which pickpockets frequent. This tram and the bus station at Belem. The Lisbon police know this but do nothing to prevent this frequent crime. They are too busy with their Cerveja and almoco

Glad to see they've got some of the old J.G, Brill kit cars still running in Lisbon. Controllers have been updated since I was there. Funny, I rode around the trolleys (I'd not call them trams only because they're of US modelling) for five days and didn't have trouble once. When I was there they had 2 restored charter cars dating from the 1890s. Management said they were seldom used, but we saw them on line three times while we were there. They seem quieter. I wonder if they changed bogies too?
