That's wierd how the WOF puzzle board SFX was featured here cuz Super Password was a Goodson-Todman show and WOF is by Merv Griffin. However, both shows were on NBC.
I guess the way you had this clip titled would have pretty much said it all for the time. Wheel was in both daytime and primetime, Vanna White was at the height of her popularity, and people just couldn't get enough of it.
The puzzle cue may sound different to some younger fans of the show. This was the original cue used on the Woolery/Stafford era and continued to be used on the syndie version as well until Wheel was canceled on NBC and moved to CBS with a revamped theme, sound effects, and of course Bob Goen.
And some of us can point out that the bell sound n the Final Spin da-ding was first used on the Art Fleming "Jeopardy!" The intramural hikinks are nothing new; once when Tom Kennedy accidentally revealed a clue on "Password Plus," the Goodson-Todman crew responded with the truncated version of a drumbeat from the 1978-80 "High Rollers" main game number reveal. Both shows, of course, were on NBC.
Remember how lame the old show was? While picking prizes, the camera would pan across the items on the large carousel. "I'll take the necklace for $300, and then the lawn mower for $600, Pat".
It's soo much better since they eliminated that process.
I suddenly have the urge to buy a vowel... =S

No, though they did appear together during a May 1984 week of Dream House that featured celebrity teams playing for charity.

They also used the bankrupt sound effect on Super Password.

That sound was used later on during that week. This recently aired in GSN within the last 2 weeks if i'm not mistaken.

In addition, Merv Griffin actually hosted a game show for Goodson-Todman before hosting his talk show, "Play Your Hunch."

Wow, I would of never realized it.
I can't stand this show, but the 1 thing i like about this video is the look on the host's face when they made the sound frum Wheel of Fortune!

That's nothing. I always have TPIR invade TTD when the Dragon hits and TJW when the Devil is spun by way of the losing horns. :-)

And on Wheel, I let The Whammy invade when someone lands on Bankrupt
