looking at flatscrene tv through ur tears is something that broadcasters will not tell u about..so its farewell to looking at flatscrene tv or the computer through imagination caused by the sunlight effect on the whole of the eyes including the perifiral vision....... they know this... thats why they have flatscrene...
Can anyone give me some information about this song's context? How long ago was it written? Was it first put out by the DCRs, or someone else? "It's an age of wealth..." = pre-2006 Irish Economy?
Buildings are just superficial, all cities are changing- and will continue to do so. fear not! Dublin still has its soul, nothing youll find inside a brick
Oh! I love you irish people, you and spanish people are very similar. The time I spent in Irland was the best....What a wonderful people, so funny, comfortable and kind. You love to talk a lot, I like that, it reminds me my country...Greetings from an spanish girl.
To think this all could have been lost had Connolly, Pearce etc not had other ideas, yet still today the sad turnout at easter to commemarate these fallen hero`s makes me cry...
It is Paddy Sweeney.singeing this song Hi is not in the picture. He is now doing his own gigs in Dublin and sometimes in Spain. He is one of the nicest lads I have ever met. Ywa52 P.s Sorry it took me so long to answer
It has to be Paddy Sweeney, not only a great singer but also a nice, sincere person. A man called Jimmy O'Toole does a good version. I heard a singer in Coventry last year do a marvellous version of the song, but when I looked for him he was gone. Slan, Brendan.
Hi, Brendan Phelan here. I would like to thank everybody for the kind words. I really appreciate it. Can't believe it's over thirty years since I wrote the song. Never thought the bad times would return again. Up the working class xxxxxxxxxxxxx
@HannahGrahamOfficial Hi, HannahGraham (That sounds Scottish). If you were born in 1997 that makes you 13 years young. When I was your age I was on the boat to England (Slough, of all places), with my parents who were looking for work. I hope you never have to do the same. Best wishes, Brendan.
@brenutube08 I searched my surname a little while ago, it's of Scottish origin...but I'm English. Yup, I'm 13...nearly 14...in 5 months...! How did you come around being a songwriter then? Hannah
@HannahGrahamOfficial I started 'dabbling' at songwriting in my early teens. When I reached the age of 20 I finally cracked it and finished my first REAL song. There is information on my web site about how I started out, I you are interested.
@brenutube08 I checked out your website, it's pretty interesting! I have a friend who seems to write songs every so often, and I end up composing them...but they always seem to sound really professional, I write all the time, the occassional line pops into my head which sounds alright, but then creating the rest of the song is always really hard...I take it it just comes naturally to some people? Hannah

I love this song -even though I've never been in Dublin til now.
But - the things that are told about here - they are valid for all towns all over the world.
It's such a pity, that so many beautifull old parts of the cities have - and still are - fallen to progress.
KEEP YOU EYES OPEN - fight for and preserve the history of your cities!
