Yeah, Singapore is perfect --no jury trials. The idiots bought into the USSA's drug prohibition even though they get nothing from it, except slavery. The poor women the cartels use as drug mules get sentenced to death (because there's no jury trial there, to at least weaken the ugliness of the immoral and stupid prohibition), and the fat rich cartelists created by the prohibition laugh. You have to be an idiot to believe a government without jury trials is perfect.
@shutfup37 you are stupidest animal in the world. See what you vote, raise in transfer, ft become priority, floating bodies increase, and more to come
With regards to corruption....I think it's better in the sense that we are not aware of how much they are getting. Ignorance -sometimes can be a blessing.
Their current allowance is alarmingly high when we are a mere red dot! We are no where close to become an Economic super power! Doesn't this fact wakes you up?
As compared to the past years, I'm sure normal working class Singaporeans are aware of how much wages we get a month. In addition, how can it be called 'public service' or 'government
I really hope Singapore Democrats to win for the people of Singapore. I know it's very tough making a living in Singapore. I do understand how Singaporeans feel.
well done, Dr Chee. a very measured and balanced speech, in diametric opposition to even PM LHL's very fidgety, very biased rendition of political diatribe..
Look at the amount of umemployed singaporean, many local jobs taken up by foreigners, i feel so mad for myself and others living here ! even when i got home and wanted to relax myself by watching tv and the moment i switch to channel 8..i saw many foreign actors and actresses running around inside my screen. well done FOREIGN TALENT !
he can root out the problem? but can he solve it? PAP has been solving problems for the past few decades. We were a slum? Are we still a slum? 4million dollars, is there any corruption? I didn't think so. would you rather want foreign businesses to pay their way out by bribing our ministers? Look at rest of the world before you compare how bad singapore has become.
@thamade Let me ask you, can you do much with your hands and legs bounded? Same applies to any opposition parties/leaders as they do not have the power/means to suggest nor execute any plans to remediate situation.
A true politician will never view money as the main motivation. They will want to serve the people instead. 4 million dollars and you think it's justified? If Obama knew Singapore's payscale, he would have sent his resume down here instead of staying in the US.
@thamade Lets get things right.A high wage does not ensure zero corruption, it only serves to minimise. It dosen't have to be that high. The salaries ministers are drawing are not SOLELY to minimise corruption.A large part of it is meant for quality work, and being uncorrupted is only part of that. With the many mistakes committed, why are the ministers in turn receiving bonuses? You can pay them what Obama gets, but not up to 6 times the salary of the so called world's most powerful man.
He is always finding fault with the government... Our country is doing well economically. Can he and his party run a country? Don't bring him into our parliament please.. He is speaking of the issues that are very common in other countries as well. He is brave ...no doubt..but do you want peace and prosperity or CHAOS?
Start the Singapore Revolution to end one family rule. End the beginning of the Lee's Singapore Dynasty before he dies. Let the Singapore Empire belong to all Singaporeans and not just the Lee family! Show me the money! Where are the reserves of Singapore. They have squandered your money! Temasek, GIC, etc. lost billions and billions of dollars and yet Ho Lee Jinx get promoted and paid higher. A top international financial lawyer like Chen will be able to track and trace where the money goes to!
Dr. Chee can fly high if he doesn't act impulsively just like before. It was said that if no one can judge what is your current state of mind from your expressions, you are a successful man. Say something not just to ease your emotion such as anger; say something that has weight. It seems that Dr, Chee had improved tremendously in this video.
talk cock sing song, singapore population is declining and we need foreigners to add to the economy + the population. So what if foreigners takes away our jobs, does the value of unemployment increases drastically? His values for unemployment is recorded from his ass? lol. This response works on idiots. ._.
@BrandonFTWLim I don't think you have seen actual unemployment figures in SG. A declining population is a hint to failing policies and if you ADD more foreigners to the mix (from 5mil to 6.5 mil), what happens to the job market in SG? How many will be put out of jobs?
I hope you are speaking in the place of a typical Singaporean and not an elitist who has a secured job, secured home, hail from a wealthy household.
@xoxohil and you know why singaporeans do not have jobs? because they dont work for it. And, you dont have jobs not because of the govt. its beacuse of YOU. who ask you never work hard. work=reward. AND, btw, you know why singaporeans are not sucessful? because you complain nonstop. we have one of the best govt in the world. why not use this time that you are complaining, to get some of your work done. huh? then maybe you can have job. NO JOB, DONT COMPLAIN, NO USE. JUST WORK HARD LA. HAIZ...
@shutfup37 From what you are saying, you are convinced SG market has jobs for all-intended jobseekers citizens+FT alike. I assume you have a good job and thinks everyone gives his/her best, the society here is meritocratic enough to do them good.
True to that and I agree mostly. But if you are speaking of an entire country as a whole, you see eye-sore problems. Do you know some FT from local U with masters are asking for $2.5kSGD? "Just win them can already!" Of course, but it's not so simple.
@shutfup37 You know, lets not lie to each other, employers will employ the cheaper foreign workers and there is no independant union here to fight for our worker's rights
@shutfup37 that's kinda hard to do when it seems like the whole of China and India and Philliphines etc etc is converging in our little red dot, with qualification certs from questionable institutes of education, and working hard is one thing, but does that mean we should turn a blind eye to corruption?
although the young are forced to recite the pledge everyday, but stuff like 'justice and equality' and 'democratic society' is not practiced by our leaders, can you not see what is wrong?

Well said Dr.Chee, pls continue to fight for injustices in SG. I am a Malaysian and how I wish you were a Malaysian working for our opposition here against the corrupt BN govt.
all i can see are experienced people with leadership being stripped of chances to give a say in the governance of Singapore all because they chose to make their point across in the opposition.
Well i recently heard about some new blood that is 20 odd years of age that is going to earn more money in 10 years than most of us can never earn with a whole life time of hard work. Are these desirable candidates? How did they secure their chances?
Such a nice speech from Dr. Chee by putting more insights on what is actually happening to the unemployment of local Singaporeans. He cited that we worked the longest hours, earned little in relation to costs of living, almost incapable of securing a home unless u dedicated at least 30-40 years of your life paying for HDB loans and that is if one is even able to cough up 1K SGD per month.
I used to question and undermine Dr. Chee's agenda when i was young though as of date now- tbc
i saw dr chee before in a food court with his whole family just like any of us.
i know that in this video he did not provide any solution. however, he did not say anything wrong too. it is happening and i am sure without looking into this video, we feel it to the most. just turn your head and count the numbers of forginers just in your sight.
Good job by SDP to uncover these many facts that many of us may not realize. To be honest, all the videos I have viewed thus far in Youtube points in the general direction that opposes PAP. PAP has indeed done a lot for Singapore thus far, we can't deny that. However, do ask yourself this simple question: do the benefits outweigh the expenses?

to kelnology. u worked in hawker center? there are more foreigners in banks , Mnc and other white collars jobs than just doing manual labour. looks like u are in manual labour job. if u cant critique constructively. shut up.
I'm just an average guy. I'm not interested in politics or economic figures. I just want to know how to survive the sudden massive influx of foreigners. I'm worried about the high living, housing and healthcare cost. I want to know if I can ever retire, if I can ever live to see all my CPF. I'm concern with the stressful education system which will affect my kids. I'm worry that I have to work longer hrs in the future in order to buy a pack of chicken rice.
who the hell is going to do the jobs that the foreigners are doing now?like washing toilets, washing plates, building roads all this..you?your father or your mother?and its not they can find jobs..its they dont want to work..too far too little pay too tiring or dont know how to do..wtf learn la cb...lol sry no hard feelings..
Another commentator on this video makes me laugh too. He said this guy should be talking about the things he will do. Well you need people to know you exist first dude. Then if you have half a brain you would go and visit the website of a political party and find out more what their about....silly people.
It's funny to hear lots of people talk on here about economics and I guarantee that not one of them has an economics degree. If any Singaporean were to asks others outside their country for a political view they would most likely paint a sad picture. I would know I have heard many and have listened to a ton of complaints for Singaporeans. They are scared stiff of their own government.
I had to have a good laugh the other day too. Thinking of defamation in singapore. Because it doesn't ...
if you are able to pick fault on what others have implemented, others can also do the same should you be the one implementing. nothing is perfect. so pls stop talking non sense. for sure, to oppose and pick fault is always easier then implementing as it consist of lots of factors to consider especially if you wanna start something from stretch. =.="
I am a singaporean,a Diploma Graduate, attained a higher diploma in Business Management awarded by Nanyang Polytechnic,There was this malaysian who just walked in with 5 SPM which is equivalent to singapore G.C.E. .I felt there was so much of unjust practices even when it comes to employing a singaporean. As a singaporeans i was offered a peanut wage of $1450 malaysian on the contrary was reluctant to accept an offer of $1550.This clearly shows foreigners stands a better opportunity
Young Singaporeans especially those who can vote, who are serving their NS, or studying. IF you are so blind to see your country slowly being swallowed up and crowded by so many people from different countries, swallowed up by rising cost. What makes you so sure that when you graduate, when you go out to work, that you can stay afloat? What makes you so sure that there is a position waiting for you?
Your parents rich, so what? PRC with degree can simply take your position for lower cost.
Please don't be swayed by Chee. He did not provide suggestions and reasons why we should go against PAP policy. Just complaining. Superficial thinking.. Poor.. How to vote for them????
"He did not provide suggestions and reasons why we should go against PAP policy."
So what if he didn't?? The facts speak for themselves. The flodding, mas selamat escape, YOG overspending and not acknowledging their errors is vindicative of their incompetence.
NO body is perfect, but you must at least have the aptitute to listen to the people.
@freesingapore Whether PAP is doing a good job or not, we have to compare them relative to the political parties set up in the same region and same time period, that is to say, SEA. if you think we are socially and financially worse off than them, our disparity wider. then yes, PAP is not doing a good job. but is that the case? its up to individuals to decide if they like their live now? or would they place their future in an untested government run by the opposition.
@pdgb101548 Well said. But how is it easy for one to do so? When you may not have friends over there, when you may not fit in to the culture over there, so on and so forth. But then again, I guess it might be one of the better choices for most of the Singaporeans now.
@peifenxxx PAP may have did what was right before the 1990's, but now? before the 1990's i dun see old man collecting empty cans and bottles, i dun see old uncle old aunties selling tissue papers to make a living, i dun see the job fair swamped by non singaporeans, i dun hear "Increase in GST is to help the older people retire" and "there is no such thing as retirement in singapore"
If PAP is doing a good job as the commentor before me claims, I wonder why Singapore's emigration rate (citizens leaving for good) is one of the highest in the world per capita?
I am malaysian, and by observing u guys i just feel pity that u guys doesn't realise how wonderful ur country is comparing to outside world. No place is perfect, and not only that , perfect is also not a word that ppl outside singapore dare to use in their daily life. the current singapore government may not be as great when LKY was the PM. But instead of speakng selfishly, why not love your country more.
@koklim82@koklim82 - our leaders promise us a swiss standard living. PLEASE DONT COMPARE MALAYSIA WITH SINGAPORE. we aspire to be a 1st world country. our leaders inspire us to be one. a developed country. however.. this is not the case. its not that we are not contended. but we are oppressed... we have to stand up for our rights.
He just likes to pick on PAP speaker's words. Whoever that maybe speaking. Ultimately, if organisations in a country make money, workers' pay will increase. Simple as that.
As much as I'd like to agree with Dr. Chee, I don't think there was an issue with using 6 month old economic data, it takes a lot of time to compile and write out estimates for real life data. And in the economic sense, as our Prime Minister will know, any reduction in cost(including labour costs) is already an increase in productivity. LLST lor. Lol. But yeah, our leaders really have no moral authority to tell us how to think and feel.
Whats the point of this respond? Does SDP have better ideas in solving the discussed issues, or rather any constructive measures to be introduced? Dr Chee, Shouldnt you be promoting SDP?
By telling the people what SDP can do will be a better idea to get votes. Right now SDP are trying to make the other party lose votes. And thats just what i saw in the video post.
@beforens07 All of SDP's alternative proposals for Singapore's economic, political and social system are available on their manifesto which is on their website. If Dr Chee were to go to stating all of them in this video (and he would surely need to explain them at length), this video would be more than 1 hour long.
@beforens07 No. They are NOT trying to make the other party lose votes. They are all just trying to wake ppl like you from the Singapore "dream" - aka, PAP dreams. Not the ppl dreams. All we want are just affordable living standards and reasonable housing loans, etc. Not craps from the govt like GST help the poors, to ERP to help you to own cars, and "how many meals do the poors need? In restaurants, fast food, or hawkers".....
He speaks excellent english.Unlike PAP hypocrites

Exactly mr chee, that's why we shall use the no. Of opposition votes as a secret weapon against the PAP.

all i can see are experienced people with leadership being stripped of chances to give a say in the governance of Singapore all because they chose to make their point across in the opposition.
Well i recently heard about some new blood that is 20 odd years of age that is going to earn more money in 10 years than most of us can never earn with a whole life time of hard work. Are these desirable candidates? How did they secure their chances?
IKunSenI 9 months ago
Such a nice speech from Dr. Chee by putting more insights on what is actually happening to the unemployment of local Singaporeans. He cited that we worked the longest hours, earned little in relation to costs of living, almost incapable of securing a home unless u dedicated at least 30-40 years of your life paying for HDB loans and that is if one is even able to cough up 1K SGD per month.
I used to question and undermine Dr. Chee's agenda when i was young though as of date now- tbc

@freesingapore Whether PAP is doing a good job or not, we have to compare them relative to the political parties set up in the same region and same time period, that is to say, SEA. if you think we are socially and financially worse off than them, our disparity wider. then yes, PAP is not doing a good job. but is that the case? its up to individuals to decide if they like their live now? or would they place their future in an untested government run by the opposition.
peifenxxx 1 year ago
@peifenxxx : Well said. Those that don't like it here can always go for other alternatives eg migrate.
pdgb101548 1 year ago
@pdgb101548 Well said. But how is it easy for one to do so? When you may not have friends over there, when you may not fit in to the culture over there, so on and so forth. But then again, I guess it might be one of the better choices for most of the Singaporeans now.
TrAnScEnD3nT 1 year ago
@peifenxxx PAP may have did what was right before the 1990's, but now? before the 1990's i dun see old man collecting empty cans and bottles, i dun see old uncle old aunties selling tissue papers to make a living, i dun see the job fair swamped by non singaporeans, i dun hear "Increase in GST is to help the older people retire" and "there is no such thing as retirement in singapore"

@koklim82 @koklim82 - our leaders promise us a swiss standard living. PLEASE DONT COMPARE MALAYSIA WITH SINGAPORE. we aspire to be a 1st world country. our leaders inspire us to be one. a developed country. however.. this is not the case. its not that we are not contended. but we are oppressed... we have to stand up for our rights.

And thats just what i saw in the video post.
beforens07 1 year ago
@beforens07 All of SDP's alternative proposals for Singapore's economic, political and social system are available on their manifesto which is on their website. If Dr Chee were to go to stating all of them in this video (and he would surely need to explain them at length), this video would be more than 1 hour long.
SeelanPalay 1 year ago
@beforens07 No. They are NOT trying to make the other party lose votes. They are all just trying to wake ppl like you from the Singapore "dream" - aka, PAP dreams. Not the ppl dreams. All we want are just affordable living standards and reasonable housing loans, etc. Not craps from the govt like GST help the poors, to ERP to help you to own cars, and "how many meals do the poors need? In restaurants, fast food, or hawkers".....
