@MGHSHour2a There was only one, and MM won, because the narrator couldn't think of any more questions.
Another humorous time, the Narrator didn't sound the "Ta daa" sound effect, and Glitch began to chase Mathman. Fortunately, it turned out he was only on the phone, and he came back in time to save Mathman.
One final funny: Once, during a chase, Glitch plummeted down that long corridor on the left, screaming in terror, before he came back on from the left. "Just kidding, folks!"
There was another one like this where the statement was "If you can't figure out an answer right away, you should quit" Mathman went on a preaching tirade like he did here and ran out of time. During the chase, he said to Mr. Glitch. "You're going to eat me, right?" Glitch replied "Nope, I quit!"
ever notice then Mathman went up to the second "?" it sounded like Mr. Glitch was prepared for the moment? He snarled "Heh-heh, nice!" I guess the voice was right to call him surruptitious.
Tell me if this is True or false: You need math only in jobs where you handle money, such as being a banker. How about being a scuba diver, or a choreographer, or a jet pilot, maybe a film actor. I wonder if you use math in all of those said jobs.
@hoopersghost OF COURSE IT'S FALSE... I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'D THINK IT'S TRUE, WHAT ABOUT MATH, WHAT ABOUT MATHMAN? WHAT ABOUT MATHNET? WHAT ABOUT PBS (Mr.Glitch):Up To seven...
I remember a skit where I forgot what Mathman was suppose to eat and when Big Mr. Glitch appeared he ate Mathman for nothing and it said GAME OVER. It should have said OUT OF ORDER. lol
Haha, one of the first episodes I saw had Mathman winning.
I thought it was a regular occurrence, so when it failed to happen for a long long time, I wrote to Square One telling them to let Mathman win more often.
This true/false format was where Square One TV jumped the shark, IMO. These questions have nothing to do with real math skills. I liked it better when Mathman had to make a decision based on actual knowledge of math.
Mr. Glitch's voice was done by Jim Thurman, who was Square One TV's main writer. Thuman did the voices of many characters on CTW shows, such as the "Teeny Little Super Guy" on Sesame Street and "Spray Man" on The Electric Company.
This is the only one (that I have seen anyway) where Glitch actually says something in the pre-game instructions that can be understood other than his usual growling or what ever he does.
I would anxiety like no other when this skit was on. When mathman would run out of time and get chased, I would nearly pee my pants. kids are so dumb!
When I was in like 2nd grade, i was asked to draw a picture of my favorite TV show. I drew this b/c Square One was my favorite show!! I still have the drawing!
Good lord.. I'd somehow forgotten this. I'm pretty sure I saw this in elementary school in the late 80s/early 90s. Mr. Glitch used to creep me right the fuck out :X
Mathman, Your mission is to decide whether the forthcoming statements about "The Huggabug Club" are true or false...You have until the count of 8 to make your decision but beware of glitch, he will eat you if you are wrong.
This show used to scare the everloving shit out of me when I was a child. I'd crindge in everytime this came on... But for some reason I'd still watch it.
This used to remind me of Munchman, a video game we played at the time on a TI99/4A. (Texas Instruments Computer) I had forgotten about Mathman until I saw this....but not Mathnet. Bloodhound Gang was cool, too. Think that was 3-2-1 Contact.
There was also a sketch where they estimated how many ping pong balls it would take to fill Michigan Stadium, and in Mathnet there was some baddie who had gone to Michigan Agricultural College, I think.
Awesome. I used to watch this on PBS too.. Square One was fantastic.. one of a VERY few educational shows I'd watch.. and a big part of that was I'd forget/not notice I was being educated because of all the fun.
That was awesome! I loved Square One TV, and Mathman was one of my favorite sketches to see! I loved Mathman's robotic voice, and Glitch's mischeivious antics!
Wow. My goodness I forgot about mathman!! I haven't seen this in like 15 years but I LOVED this show. I think it actualy did teach me something abuot math. So much better than the crappy shows kids watch today. this & Archimedes were my favorite!
Glitch: "Ya ran outta time with all that preachin', Mathy!" (evil laugh)
Mathman: (stammering) "But I was right!"
Glitch: "So? Ya didn't say...'False'."
Mathman: (scared) "Gotta go!"
Gives me the shivers...
