You're funny. Cradle was good til Midian, The original Stormblast was tolerable, but both have been total shit for the last 10 years. They both sell black metal out so much. They make pop-y, conventional music and package it as extreme. They're the assholes.
Yeah, bands do change styles, but signing to Roadrunner is something else entirely. If Darkthrone had never changed style from death to black, we wouldn't have Transilvanian Hunger, Under a Funeral Moon, and A Blaze in the Northern Sky, all of which are totally essential bm albums. Change isn't bad, but the changes both Cradle and Dimmu made went in the wrong direction.

You shouldn't compare the music of Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth to Defeated Sanity. Defeated Sanity are on a much higher level of technicality and musicianship. Sure those other bands appeal to the masses and have sold out much earlier in their career, making you naive thinking they good musicians. They're fair at best. You're head is bloated from drinking your own piss, trolls.

No. Classic death metal actually had riffs and discernible vocals. Death, Atheist, Morbid Angel, Dismember (all better bands as well). Even Demilich makes some seriously fucked up death metal without resorting to vague rhythmic gyrations on the lowest string, gratuitous blast beats, and a vocalist that is clearly not even trying to form words. I don't have much respect for this "brutality" over writing good music mentality that modern "brutal" DM bands seem to think is cool.

If you want Black Metal, I'd stay away from true black metal. Look for death metal bands with black metal influences, The Black Dahlia Murder being an example. Vocals suck but instrumentals are pretty good off their nocturnal album. And yes, CoF IS black metal. Don't believe me? Look up the song Born In A Burial Gown.

@Arglactable This actually doesn't sound that low. Sounds like it's like B tuning. Wich is low, but there are some tunings that are very noticaby lower and it goes down to like Drop E and F and it's just insane. But this doesn't sound too low.

No. Classic death metal actually had riffs and discernible vocals. Death, Atheist, Morbid Angel, Dismember (all better bands as well). Even Demilich makes some seriously fucked up death metal without resorting to vague rhythmic gyrations on the lowest string, gratuitous blast beats, and a vocalist that is clearly not even trying to form words. I don't have much respect for this "brutality" over writing good music mentality that modern "brutal" DM bands seem to think is cool.

youtube doesn't do this band any justice either, the quality is not the greatest... and i happen to love death metal with obscure rhythmic gyrations on their strings.. listen closer, underneath the chaos is a well trained jazz guitarist.

Their debut was released in 2004 and it clearly demonstrates a modern death metal style, even if it is significanlty more listenable and interesting than their more recent shit.. And they have lyrics? Really? Are they, by any chance, Ooooooooooh Oooooooooooh\ Uuuuuuuuugh EEEEEEOOOOOOEEEEEEOOOOO UUUUUUUUGGGH EEEEEEEEEE? I think jazz guitarists use more than two strings.

If you want Black Metal, I'd stay away from true black metal. Look for death metal bands with black metal influences, The Black Dahlia Murder being an example. Vocals suck but instrumentals are pretty good off their nocturnal album. And yes, CoF IS black metal. Don't believe me? Look up the song Born In A Burial Gown.

Very skillful, but rather generic Brutal Death, they're easily comparable to the masses. Defeated Sanity just gets more recognition because they've been around for so utterly long. They've been around longer than Devourment.
