  • love your playing man!

  • Is that a Mark Knopf Signature behind you??!!

  • Is it worth it installing some bare knuckles into a squier strat if you dont want to buy a better one because i have a prs already and my squier plays extremely well just the pickups are lacking

  • @mattsavedbygracengai

YES, absolutely! I have a ton of guitars and the one I play the most at the moment is a battered 1989 Squire Strat. It just feels right and in my hands feels netter than some of the Custom Shop guitars I've owned. I haven't even changed the pickups in it it sounds amazing. I will upload some videos of it. It's just one of those guitars that come along 1 in a hundred.

If your pickups are a little weak i say go for it, change the pots while your at it. V important !!

  • @chooseyourblues are there any bare knuckle sets you would recommend? or any other brand for that matter. I have a HSS Strat.

  • @chooseyourblues i want to play blues such as mayer and ray vaughn but also some hendrix

  • @mattsavedbygracengai

Well if you have an HSS layout you could mix and match, in other words you don't have to buy a set.

A Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge is always a great choice and if you like SRV you could go for a Texas Special in the neck and middle. Another pickup company that is really good is Tone RIder. As good IMO as Bare Knuckles but a lot cheaper. You should check out their website. They do a pickup for Strats called 'City Limits' IOW, their version of SRV's Texas Specials.

  • @chooseyourblues How bout Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot?

  • @chooseyourblues Hi, I took your advice here and got myself a set of tone rider pure vintage. They sound awesome!! I previously had texas specials for the past 15 years and wanted something with the vintage sparkle. I was amazed at the sound quality of these budget pickups!! It sounds better than the fender 57/62 pickups i have on my other guitar. I havent had the chance to try bare knuckles, but I heard they are the holy grail. Maybe one day Ill fork out the dough for them.

  • @mattsavedbygracengai

It's true. I've got 'Irisch Tour Pickups' in my Fender Blackie.

  • Nice demo, I have the same in my Strat too. I agree that they sound the best through a Fender or Marshall valve amp...as do many pickups.

These are my 3rd pickup change, and I'll stay with these. I tend to use the bridge pickup on over 50% of my songs as it sounds so good, even when playing rythmn parts sometimes.

  • can u get those john mayer glassy cleans and nice bass with these? or shoud i get the bareknuckle 63s? they have less mids

  • @LewisKiernan

Hi, no sadly these pickups work best with a clean Fender type amp or a similar amp slightly overdriven.

I would say the Irish Tours would work better for Gallagher type tones. As for Rock/ Metal try the Trilogy set, based on Malmsteen sounds.

  • you definatley shave your hands tho boss!!!. would be nice to hear some overdrive in there sounds sweet though great tone

  • @cmacguinness87

    Palms and all...

  • Man, this sounds so good. I am grabbing an Apache for for my Ibanez S470DXQM. I talked to Tim for a while after listening to this a few times. He told me an Apache is exactly what I was looking for.

I will probably get two BKP humbuckers for the neck and bridge.

By the way, what are you playing at 1:02?

  • @xPELICANx

Hey, glad you dig the tone. Apache is the nicest strat pickups i have heard along with the Ybarra Custom Shop 60's from Fender (which they don't sell, boo hoo!)

The solo at 1.02 is the solo from Sultans Of Swing by Dire Straits, I'm a big Knopfler sound. He has IMO the best Strat tone of all time on that first record.

  • Great set up man and smooth playing

  • if i could get one of these guitars.... my god, she sounds great

    COOL PICKUPS

  • @avamkfeimja

Well these pickups are not expensive, as far as the guitar goes it's noting special. It was made by a local builder from parts.

    Thanks for the comment.

  • if i could get one of these guitars.... my god, she sounds great

  • At 2:04, it reminded me of the Ren and Stimpy them song :D

  • @DarkJinx257

Yes, thank you Robert Cray did in fact do the music for the Ren and Stimpy Show.

  • I think they sound thin and weak

  • @satjathamma

Well yes, that's the idea. They are very low output.

  • I play lots of john mayer and mark knopfler would you recommend those pickups ?

  • @rangedqure

Undoubtably the best ive tried for their sound. The key is both those guys have under-wound pickups in their strats (at least until the mk sig strat with texas specials). Mayer's black strat has really under-wound pickups apparently.

I would also praise the Fender custom shop 60's pups but you cant buy them on their own.

  • Nice playing, thanks for the demo. ;-)

  • Finnally a good, comprehensive demo of these pickups, its so hard to find a good representation of what pickups do, ive been looking around for ages, with lots of pickups for videos just like this, thanks for the help, this really has given

    *****

  • Excellent demo, you let the guitar ring so we could hear them thanks!

  • Hi there! Great demo. I´m thinking of buying a set of apaches. I have a 1995 maple neck fender stratocaster. Do you recommend the pups flat or staggered? The bridge pickup sounds nice with high overdrive? Thanks! :)

  • Hi there, that would depend on what radius your Strat neck is. If it's 7.25 the yes staggered all the way.

  • How do these pickups sound with overdrive? I'm stuck between these and the Mother's Milk pickupos. What do you think I should go for?

    Thanks. :)

  • @fredericiscool

Hi there, I would say these pickups sound better with a clean sound or slight natural amp overdrive. Mothers Milk would be hotter and more suited to 'Modern' Strat tones.

  • hey, sweet riffs. what kind of strat are you using? she looks and sounds amazing, well done!!!

  • hello i'm buying BK pickups and still didn't decide which one to buy. Would you please tell what is your amp on the vid and what is the sound like live. Is it brighter or darker?

    tnx :)

  • H, I tried the 'Sultans' but found them too thick for my taste. I perfer these for a more 'Strat like' tone.

The amp is a modified Fender Deville, however any Fender amp will get you this sound.

Live the pickups are stunning, not too bright and not too dark. The bridge pickup doesn't take your head off in high end. However I have the tone wired to the bridge so I can edge it off myself if it becomes too bright.

  • huge hands looks like a 3/4 size guitar on u man...

  • wow that sounds amazing! you are modest though great playing is behind your sounds as well.

Im going to look into getting these pickups :)

  • the BEST Strat demo on youtube. Even Carl Verheyen's demo wasn't as distinct as this. this sounds like a strat as opposed to a tele or other SC equipped guitars.

as usual, my friend, GOOD JOB!

  • It's all in the pickups man, honestly they are so good and sound so different in all postions they would make anyone sound good. Thanks for all your comment!

  • The Bare Knuckle pups sound awesome! Love the guitar and the playing! Cheers! T

  • great man! what strat is that?

  • Nice Knoffler riffage

  • That is a beautiful guitar

  • Sounds great (and nice playing, too). Is that your twin reverb?

  • Hi Aaron, no it's a 1990's Fender Hot Rod Deville with that some crazy dude modded with loads of Mesa Boogie stuff. Great sounding amp.

    Thanks.
