haha good effort looked like 220kmh...be hard pushed to get much more from any caterham. last one i was in was an R500 Superlight (in the UK) and that was pretty immense. nothing quite like doin 140MPH with ur buttocks virtually scraping the tarmac and struggling to breathe due to lack of windscreen so much fun. didnt know the little fellas had made it out to your neck of the woods (also a tasty lotus esprit in the barn) nice work :)

It'll be a big heavy N/A V8 with an even heavier torque bias. Look at the differences in what motorsports we watch and enjoy. There isn't a city in America without a quarter mile dragstrip. Sure, we have famous "tracks", but that has more to do with how big the country is than popularity of them.

I dont no about that, Monty weighs in at 511kg with 280rwhp, and a 5 speed sequential box with a 2-39 first gear i can hit 103kph in 1st.and she eats Enzo 460's been there done that,he wasnt a happy looser.0-60 times probaly very similar, around the sub 3s mark top speed 250ks we havnt done a proper test as yet with new upgrades so will be interesting to get some figures. like your buggy she is fully street legal but dosnt have a heater or demister, she has everything else though

Actually, the new R500 does 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 2.88. Even faster still, is the RST-V8 Levante (under 2.7).

But aside from all this, there are plenty of stock Cat's in the 3 second area (CSR 260, Superlight R400/R500). If someone puts in a Ford Duratec, they have access to a LOT of performance upgrades.

I thought about a Radical which is also has a bike engine, but when I was told the engine would need to be replaced or completely rebuilt every year I passed. Bike engined cars need far too much maintenance.

Interesting comment......however the Hayabusa engine is BULLET proof reliable and having delivered 17 Bike engined cars and 5 "car" engined cars since 2003 we have never had any problems except one race car that put a rod through the side due to driver error! The Hayabusa engine is very low on maintenance, just change the oil once in awhile!

Further more i would like the author of the video to clarify what they mean as the "fastest" - acceleration, top speed (unlikely in that respect) or round a track. I rate the caterhams acceleration and cornering abilities, but that the fastest canadian car on the road surely not. Tehre must be some serious tuned cars in places! nice collection of cars :)

Yeah, hate to say it but the caterham has numbers like a Mclaren F1 - around 470bhp/tonne where the F1 has close on 500bhp/tonne.
