  • Thank you so much for preseving these prescious memories. My dad is now 89 and in a nursing home these viedos bring me great comfort

  • @pimpemelsmith1949... Ditto for me too....

  • My parents wedding song .... they're both gone now .... but I still remember playing it on the accordion for them as they danced in the kitchen on a Saturday night, my brother and sisters watching ...... loved this show ...

  • My parents favorite song! I miss you, Papa! <3

  • Is Lawrence Welk dancing with his wife?

  • You should read her Biography and see where she came from. Her early years were hard,,,,she did not let it beat her ,,,,,,,she went on to become a beutiful person and talented artist.

  • I saw a recent interview with her. In connection with the dvd releases of Here's Lucy. She introduced the episode where Lawrence Welk came to visit Lucille Ball it was great seeing her again, still bright and sharp as a tack.

  • Such a pretty woman; she reminds me of my beautiful Aunt Gayle. This song meant alot to Mrs. Newcomb on her anniversary and Loretta liked it also.

  • Thanks a million for posting! Just one thing though---this is Al Jolson's old song, "The Anniversary Song,"---NOT "The Anniversary Waltz." I have Bing Crosby singing "The Anniversary Waltz" and it is awesome! I love this also, but, trust me, this is "The Anniversary Song" and not "The Anniversary Waltz." I appreciate your posting such beautiful songs!!

  • @BigBingFan

THIS SONG was composed by the romanian composer Iosf Ivanovici in 1880, under the name "Waves of the Danube".

Long time after, those guys just PUBLISHED it, and not COMPOSE IT, probably thinking it's a forgoten old song.

You will find all about this on wikipedia.

Thank you for the background on this beautiful song. I love Norma Zimmer's voice so much, but when Jimmy Roberts chimes in, it is so distracting to me. If Norma had a top-flight baritone, like Tom Netherton, or earlier, like Bing or Dick Haymes, it would have been a smash. I'm sure Jimmy Roberts was a true gentleman, great person, but his singing leaves me FLAT. Thank you for posting this beautiful song, and please post many more like it. Fantastic!

  • Norma Zimmer, relatively new to me but what a strikingly handsome woman she is!!

  • @benoni45 You are so right!!! This woman had it all together, beauty, smarts, and gobs of talent. One look at her and you knew you needed another sister or daughter or something like it.

  • @benoni45 You have made me smile! : )

  • @benoni45 Never could understand Zimmer's designation of

"Champagne Lady". What's a champagne lady? Also she

was married to a guy but would sing duet love songs with

"Chimmy Roberts-a", who was married to another lady.

Just seemed strange, that's all. Guess those weird TV

arrangements fell under the category of "Fantasy".

  • Simply Beautiful

    Thank You So Much

  • Very sweet.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I would watch in the 50s and early 60s as my mom would put pincurles in my hair!!! I loved Jimmy Roberts as on;y a little girl can!!!

  • Does anyone have the chords for this song?

  • When I was a kid I thought my folks "square" because we had to be home on Friday nights to watch Lawrence Welk. What a drag! Now that I'm "old", and they're gone I enjoy watching and some songs, like this one, brings tears to my eyes. Funny how things change. Thanks for posting...

  • @pimpernelsmith1949

That is so "touching." I thought the same. You made my day!!

  • Nice video. Thanks for the memory.
